So I had an issue a few weeks ago with my pinion backing out on me. I was able to catch it (this is the front) before it was too late, stay in 2wd and tighten her up...

The pinion and gears are fine, the backlash feels okay and I'm going to try to re-torque the pinion to make sure it has enough so it doesn't back out again.

But the question is this... is the locker f'd? I think these notches are pretty costmetic. Seems fairly minor for a $750 locker.

Or if you can't find a new nut (which I may have one around here)...Use red locktite on the threads...get the threads CLEAN and dry in the nut AND on the pinion threads before putting it together with locktite...

I have rebuilt a number of diffs way worse--run it...

This....You should see the welded carrier I put in the in the back of my rig! :haha:

If you need a nut, bring your old one so we can compare nuts! :redneck:

Throw your crush sleave away and put a solid spacer in :D

hmm actually I think it is a solid spacer. I don't think it had enough ft/lbs when we initially put it on.

Wouldn't a crush sleeve still have lateral slop even tight, once it backs out? The pinion doesn't move at all when the nut is on there.

Kev, call me when ya wake up :cheer:

run it:awesomework: may wanna clean it out first! mine did the same ****....looked like hell inside, glad I pulled it appart after the fact, prolly would have wrecked my seals?

heh the axle seals are toast on one end... but I'm not going to pull it apart today. Wait until spring, then overhaul it.
