Hardline Crawlers - Rock Bouncer Builds, Tech & Off-Road Trail Talk

Help Support Hardline Crawlers:

Havent been able to spend much time in the shop latley but managed to spend the day today:clappy: Got a little bit done on the winch drop. Hacked out most of the factory plate leaving enough to keep the body mount in place. Next cut out the hole for the winch(damn 3/16 bumper) And yes Troy I really did use a skillsaw:clappy:So instead of completly stealing crashes design I used another piece of box tube left over from the rear bumper to finish off the top half. Even used some scraps from Troys buggy to build a cute little stinger to help protect the winch. It also kind of helps make things look more centered since the winch is offset to clear the steering box:booo:
Im hoping by opening up some grill area that it will runn a bit cooler now as well.

Jim did you take that stinger off davids old swingset? Looks like a slide handrail to me! so is it actually a swinger instead of a stinger now? I hope you paint it, AND NOT BRITE BLUE, maybe a dull blending black. At least it will be done before troys is.

HA-HA erase that one! :hi: Jims will never be done troy it is a jeep. He still has to lift it more, put 36s or 38s on it, extend the wheelbase, and comp cut the back. That is all until he links it f/r and tosses d60s and 42s on it. Right jim?!:redneck:  :hi:

At that point the frame will be ready for replacement and most of the body parts will be gone and TA DA! Jims got a buggy:haha:

I guess the bonus of building a buggy by ruining a jeep is one less jeep on the trail:flipoff: :stirpot:

Don't mean to take the subject off Jim's pink thong panties that double as depends but I was under the impression that powder coating steering arms was a big no no. Are the holes and mounting surface not coated or cleaned after?

from the sky manufacturing site:
We do not Powder Coat Steering arms!
Powder Coating steering arms is very Dangerous. Why, #1 because metal to metal contact area's should not have a weaker cushion between them to wear out, causing arms to become loose, and deadly. #2, Conical washers will not seat correctly, neither will your tie rods ends.

you can tape off or plug any holes or areas you dont want coated..... stupid statement

speaking of 90 bends and such

well since I couldnt go out and play this weekend I decided to live in the shop all weekend Actualy got a few things buttoned up and finaly got going on the passenger fender until I discovered at 5:00 pm I didnt have enough sheetmetal to finish:booo: But the drivers side is done as well as the brace between the shock towers. Also finished up the front bumper and winch mount. Got the high steer stuff all finished and a rough alingment. Had to move the steering box forward about 3/4" so the pittman arm didnt drag on the tierod hate those kinds of suprises.
