Some people think it's kinda ok. Gotta keep it classy and get the plastic handle.

I love good homemade corn likker. Great smell and taste, you know exactly what's in it, and you can dilute to fit the mood. I can sit and drink a quart and get up the next day feeling great without getting stupid, but beer straight makes me stupid after too many.

Single barrel taste different to me than the regular black label Jack. I sip it and mix the regular.

Those are the sipping whiskeys. A poor ass like me that drinks every weekend cant afford that often though, my standard is Captain Morgan Silver Spiced with diet coke. I go through about a handle a weekend.
Wild Turkey RYE is pretty decent stuff if you can find it. Most places don't carry it.
J.D. and sprite is a good drink, just cant bring myself to pay 45 bucks for a handle when Captain is 25.
HELL YES IM CHEAP, but I get my medication on and it keeps me from killing people. :drinkers:

Yes...it's pretty good.
Ever have the Cap't reserve?? Thats good stuff too.
Try Sailor Jerry and Kracken if you like spiced rum.

Single barrel does taste different. I've had good bottles that I really loved the flavor and i've had bottles that I gave away. Total crap shoot and it has turned me off on that ****. Gentlemen Jack has been consistent and budget friendly enough to drink regularly.

guess i got lucky. i've never had any bad. A guy we ride with had some good bourbon one night. It was supposedly a really expensive bottle so i didnt drink that much but damn it was smooth. until that point I guess i'd never had good whiskey/bourbon and was uneducated ha.

That is what single barrel is all about. It literally comes from one single barrel. Warehouse placement determines how much of the barrel flavor the whiskey absorbs due to temperature differences. It is nothing special and isn't any more potent than no. 7. The way regular black label maintains its consistency is they pour all those barrels in a big vat. The different flavors you can get from single barrel are the draw to it.

Private stock is one of my favorites, and they have a sherry oak finish that is good too. I would drink rum over whisky anyday. :drinkers:

My favorite for sipping is the glenlivet there is many of that brand that I like the 21old is probably my favorite
As far as mixers can't go wrong with crown But I love my rum captain black,tattoo, are all good
Fireball is badass mixed with root beer (thanks hulk)
Also for some tight asses walkers deluxe is pretty close to the taste of crown and put in a crown bottle your friends will never know the difference

Still got half a bottle of KRAKEN in the shop fridge from Halloween 2014. Nobody will touch it. Capt. Reserve is good though.

Single barrel barrel proof....if you can find it. We have only made 3 runs of it. Proof range from 128-133. The filtration process keeps a lot more flavor in it also. It's pretty awesome stuff. Mix it 50/50 with good water.

When it's at a high proof it burns more than anything. If you want to sip and get the full flavors out of it you dilute it. Cut down you taste more of what's going on with it. Everything that is taste tested at jack is diluted to somewhere around 50/50.
It's mostly personal preference really. If you are used to strong liquor drink it straight but your not getting the full flavors out of it.
Come take a tour. They offer a tasting tour now that is 10 bucks. You get to sit down and taste the gentleman, honey, fire, black and maybe one more can't remember. The guide should help you through the tasting and give a little taste etiquette. Or just buy a barrel and the master distiller can really help you out

Gotcha. Guess that what it meant when my uncle was saying it takes the bite out I always preferred my whiskey or scotch to be smooth but still have a warming feeling afterwards every time I've watered down it tastes like ( drinking a flat soda to a regular). I've taken that tour serval times it's really badass my dads is on the wall for buying a barrel but I can't remember if it was jack or Jim Thanks for the info makes sense now

So, this may be a stupid question, if it is, that's ok, cause it isn't my first dumb question and it won't be my last for sure. I inherited 3 bottles of whisky I know nothing about, been curious about sipping some of them. Do you sip with ice, room temp, or outa the fridge temp?

Personally I like mine room temp or with a couple cubes of ice. Shine tho stays in freezer but that's a totally different subject

Try them different ways. It's an acquired taste for sure. I know it's not the true way to drink whiskey but I usually mix it with coke haha.
One popular way is a few ice cubes in a glass and just cover them with room temp whiskey. Let it melt down a little and enjoy.

And make you some good ice for whiskey. Especially if your fridge doesn't have a decent filter on the ice maker. I fill some ice trays that make a small curve shape cube that I like with water from the brita pitcher.

Nothing worse than some old chlorine stale tasting ice in your whisky
