Its good stuff if you've never had it. I put it up there with the Weller green label and Eagle Rare. Not as smokey flavored as the ER but not quite as sweet as the wheated Weller.
 
Picked up an N this morning and a bottle of EH Taylor. A local liquor chain had a special release this morning. To say the bourbon craze has hit in the Louisville area is an understatement. The store opened at 9. We pulled in the parking lot at 7 and didnt get out of the car till 7:30. We were about 10th in line. Just before the store opened, the manager came outside to get a head count. He said he counted 70 people. It was 26° at 9am. Not sure everyone in line got a bottle. It was a one bottle per customer limit. Took the wife with me to get our two bottles.

Thought I'd chime in here for the fun of it.
My personal favorite is Blantons but it's kind of hard to find and pricey in my area. My next up would be Four Roses....the regular cheap stuff, not the small batch or single barrel stuff. Can't beat it for the price.
I've also found that everyone's taste is different when it comes to bourbon so I tend not to buy stuff based on others, unless I've read consistent reviews.

Side note: My wife managed to get this for me for Christmas and I can't make myself open them.

x2 on everyone’s taste, I bought a bottle of 4 roses small batch and coke can’t cut it. But I drink Rich and Rare straight? Was told if I like blended whiskey then I won’t like bourbon. So maybe I’m just cheap or gallon vodka in plastic jugs with fire ball candy in it ruined my tastebuds

The winkle and birthday bourbon are hard to find here in North AL. Blantons is a little easier. Did she win a lottery to get them?

I bought the Four Roses SB per it's glowing review on here as well. I aslo prefer R&R to it. I just didn't like it at all

Yes she did! She bought $100 worth of tickets at a local place and won every bottle she dropped a ticket in. Very lucky for sure!

Edit: As in most lotteries, she only won the chance to purchase first. The prices were normal MSRP for each, not those ridiculous sky high prices.

The wife had the day off and had to run some errands. I came home from work to a few new bottles for the collection. I think she is starting to enjoy this as much as I am. Not sure where to start but I've heard good things about the Old Fo 1920, the EV Single barrel and the Bulliet 10. I've had the Four Rose's Single and the Calumet before. Both are pretty good. All these bourbons with the exception of Calumet are made, aged, and bottled within 50 miles of the house. Calumet is produced in Bowling Green which is an hour and a half away.

The EW Single is not as good as I had hoped. It's not as smooth as I was expecting. Strong hints of vanilla, caramel, and cinnamon on the nose. Straight was a little too hot even at 86 proof for me. I added an ice cube and it helped to open it up a bit. It was fairly inexpensive at 23.00 but not as smooth as I was expecting. It's hard to quantify the finish for me. This may turn in to a cocktail bourbon here at the house. Bottle is cool so the appearance will be nice for the cabinet but that's not why we bought it.

Broke out the 1920 tonight. It's good. Hot, but good. Strong caramel on the nose for me. After little ice in the glass it opened up quite a bit. A strong smell of fruit and nuts came along with the vanilla and caramel. The wife got a lot of the vanilla. For a 115 proof bourbon I think it is pretty smooth. I like it more than the EW Single Barrel for sure.

I guess the wife is stocking up in preparation for a lockdown. She has brought home several new bottles for the collection this week.

Old Fo 1897, Michters Small Batch, Woodford Double Oak, and Bulleit Blenders Select today. Guess I've got something to occupy the time.
 
Hey it was cookie dough flavor, and it was great, wasn't able to find any of that this past winter season.

The wife went shopping for some essentials today on her day off. We hadn't bought toilet paper in at least a months. We were down to 3 rolls and decided it was time to try to find some. Damn shame the Eagle Rare was only $4 more than the **** paper. She did stumbled upon the Derby glasses. They have the original scheduled date on them of May 2. I was able to pick up a Woodford Derby bottle before they started pulling them from the shelves. The bottle has the wrong date on it also. The Kentucky Derby has been moved to September so these items may become collector items at some point. If anything, they will be conversation pieces.

The Bookers is our first bottle and will go well with our collection. Gonna have to grab another bottle so I can get it a try.
