Hopefully this isn't to controversial for this forum but I am desperately trying to get the word out about what is happening to the Second Amendment in Washington state.
While collecting signatures to get 1094 on the ballot, I'm finding that too many gun owners don't even know whats going on.
Last year 1639 went into effect.
All semi auto rifles are now "assault rifles" yes, that includes 22LR.
To purchase a semi auto now requires taking a class (must be taken every 5 years). You must Permanently waive your HIPPA rights and be subject to an annual "enhanced" background check. Minimum 10 day wait, CPL holders NOT exempt. And finally, semi auto's are now added to the pistol registry. This adds an additional $18 fee, so the State can keep track of what you own.
THIS YEAR, for the 2020 legislative session, we are facing
COMPLETE BAN ON SEMI AUTO SALES and REGISTRATION.
Semi auto's purchased before the effective date of the law will be required to be REGISTERED.
MAGAZINE BAN.
As I read it possession will be a class C felony, punishable by up to 5 years in jail and $10K fine. The magazine ban has actually been introduced twice, both on its own and with the semi auto ban.
BACKGROUND CHECKS ON AMMO PURCHASES.
This may also end online ammo purchases, I'm not sure. At the vary least ammo would have to be shipped to an FFL.
I am sure there is more but this is the worst of it.
If you are a gun owner or just appreciate freedom, this is the time to get informed. Spread the word, Email your representatives, sign the i1094 petition (most local gun shops have it, online sigs do not count), There is a rally in Olympia Jan,17,2020.
