im on the hunt for a 89-95 22re to put in my 80. im sure ill have lots of questions.

question 1. does it matter if the doner truck is auto or manual transmission ? if so why?

It should be ok. Two wheel drive truck engines work also.

great. someone on pirate told me if the doner was an auto trans it wouldnt work with my 5 speed. that didnt seem right to me.

The only thing I can think of that may not work are the plugins on the trans.
I have a 81 with a EFI engine from a 88 two wheel drive. I used the the 2 wheel oilpan also.

my buggys wiring harness started as an auto. I weeded out all the auto wires.

the only reason a engine from a auto truck wont work is if the crank isn't drilled for a pilot bushing and if it's not the crank can be swapped out

manual trans wiring is simple too, 4wd and reverse light switches. Just get a trans with a manual speedo
