Walker Valley May 10th-11th

Just be aware that there's going to be a work party up there on Saturday and parts of Expressway (by the rock face) may be shut down for periods of time while the trail is repaired. NAXJA Northwest Chapter has 'officially' adopted the trail and will be doing more regular clean-ups and trail repairs.

WTF? Repairing what?

U-DA-HO, and my mom has to work so not much use in driving over there when she won't really be home. Probably next weekend, or I'm gonna see her on Memorial Day Weekend anyways.....WELL, I am a mother too so I get to do what I want that weekend TOO! And I wanna go to Walker.

Where? Uphill? Downhill from the Rock Face? On the Rock Face?:eeek:

:wtf: You ignoring my calls now?!!!:fawkdancesmiley: There will be an assessment made regarding that bypass to the far left where the quads have been going thru---we can try and meet up w/ them to discuss options.....my opinion, leave the rockface and existing original bypass alone, and come up with a different route altogether for the lesser-equipped rigs(which probably shouldn't be on this particular section anyway) and quads......most logically at the base of the hill leading to the face and cutting thru to tie in above the face area somewhere.

My opinion- the trail should not be run by rigs not equipped. A sign should be put at the bottom (where it turns off from mainline). Efforts should be put towards this rather than making bypasses easy enough for stock street cars. Sounds like (from another board) that the guys who "adopted" this trail don't even have lockers:rolleyes: nuff said.

Thank you Kevin, sounds like your on the same page and I'm glad your going through proper channels before busting out a chainsaw on the expressway:awesomework:

Who said anything about a chainsaw!:D Yeah,
i think it should be left alone for the better equipped rigs---as the lesser equipped rigs become more equipped, then try it, but be prepared to winch if said people can't make it.....that is why the winch is there, it's not for looks!!!!

Actually I know a few of the people over at NAXJ (I'm also a registered user there); and most of the guys there have very well-equipped rigs; I spoke with one of them last Fri on the way to Reiter, and his take on this Sat was to be more of an assesment of the trail and obviously doing some repairs where necessary....I don't know the guy that's not locked over there....but all that I have met over there are cool---

One of the things that has kept me from going out "Wheelin" Is the fact that I am not locked only have a 2" BB AT's that are 31" (BFG M/T's on Friday) . I agree with you Kevin, you know me. I would love to play with the big dogs, but I am still a puppy. The frustrating thing is there is very little for guys ( and gals) like me ( guy not gal) for us to play in and learn. Walkers rep has put the fear of mud and stuckness and damage in most of us newbs. So while there should be major hardcore trails why can't there be some lesser stuff for us slimy green algae that have not fully evolved yet. I plan on meeting up with ya'll Sat. to see what I can do. Please be gentle...

I think you are missing the good thing. The folks that adopted this trail can make it harder. Listening to input from the 4 wheeling community to find out what folks want.

Your right and I hope it works out that way.

But I interpreted this comment here-

"And as to your comment about staying off the trails... It's not the people here who can't make it. It's the people who haven't taken the time to learn the hobby and set out in their daily driver"

as saying the expressway should have adequate bypasses for any stock rig to not be ****ed if they drove the expressway.

My thought was to instead have adequate signage to prevent these people from even driving into the trail in the first place. But then again the quote came from the same guy who said-

"So far I've had to winch my XJ in order to get onto the Expressway from either side.... I really need lockers."

I may be misinterpreting things though, he may not be representative of the entire group. Since I do live close to Walker I will be doing my best to be actively involved with these changes, not just *****ing.

Sounds like fun but my "Barbie Jeep" is still not trail ready (2 wheel drive only).

My front wheel vacuum switch on the transfercase is in need of replacing and the posi-lok I ordered will not be here untill next week, no one had one in stock.

Have Fun.......

Hay Kevin, got my bottle yet........

A couple of us from Portland with our CJ's will be heading towards Walker early Saturday a.m. I have a red CJ7 and my dad has a dark green CJ7

Thanks to everyone on this website for giving us great information. Hope to see some of you there to run some trails and get a lay of the land.

I got the go ahead to come out Saterday! What time will you be rolling out onto the trail? and where is everyone parking again?

The plan is to be at the Main lot by 9:00 am, and if there's a bunch of rigs, we'll likely split into two, maybe three groups; lookin forward to it....as for you D.D. you should be just fine runnin most of what's up there---especially with the new shoes!!!:cheer: if you're concerned we'll be there to help you out!!!:awesomework:
