So any of you that have met me in person knows I'm a fat ass. I turned 39 in June and decided I want to be alot lighter when 40 comes. I heard about 30/10 Weight Loss for life from somebody at work and saw them after they lost weight. I did some research and found I can get a Dr's note and use my flex spending account at work to pay for it. It's costs roughly $1000 per month. But anyone that has struggled with their weight and weight loss knows that $$ is worth it if they can do something that works.

I signed up 6 weeks ago and have been following it religiously. It's a high protein low/zero carb plan. I'm down 30 pounds already and dropping pretty good weekly. I feel 20 years younger and am way more active now.

My favorite thing so far is it is forcing me to change my eating habits. Portion control, kinds of foods, what times to eat are all in check and I'm quite used to it.

Just wanted to share my experience and spread the word. The more people I tell, the more likely I am to keep going when I'm tempted to cheat (which isn't often surprisingly).

Nice work! I finally got annoyed with my weight enough to do something as well. Mine won't be quite so drastic. Just a small change in the way I eat and when I eat. Added fruits and veggies for snacks (which I have basically never eaten). And of course I've been going to the gym every day. No way in hell I could afford that weight loss course anyway :D. But I hear about it on a regular basis on the morning show during my drive in. They seem to be very happy with it.

one very simple thing that makes a huge difference is standing up. they have proven that 5-10 min after sitting down muscles go into atrophy. the simple act of standing up reverses that. a study was done of couch potatoes , and the only thing they had them change about there life style was any time a commercial cam on tv, they stood up. by the end of the study, over 90% of participants saw significant weight loss.

Way to go Jacob! Nothing better than feeling you have accomplished something you set your mind to. :awesomework:

rI had a similar situ and no matter how hard I worked out (on those occasions when I even had enough energy to do it) after an injury a few years ago all I did was bloat up. Turned out my thyroid was injured and it's now producing reverse T-3/4 hormone which makes me exhausted and I just gained weight, being hungry ALL the time and walking around in a fog. (over and above the vertigo that rendered me disabled) I took thyroid hormones which worked at first, then my body reacted by reversing the T3/4 I was taking, which made me more tired and dizzy.
Now I do lemon juice (lemon squeezed into a glass with warm water) after I take my pills to help absorb them. and jump start the diverticulosis into moving like normal. I have lost 50 lbs since about March but I had to get levels checked and I'm STILL producing more R-T3 than I should be. I hope to be back down to at least 250 lbs by Christmas. (280 right now)

So I'm still on this diet. So far so good. I'm down from 260 to 213. I can't wait to get below 200, haven't been there since 2001.

I'm going to check my weight later, but I haven't been under 200 since training for the 1976 Olympics.

I've been north of 300 for the past 15 years since my thyroid was screwed up. I'd like to get back to 220 at least.

Yer gonna blow away! :haha:
Congrats Jacob! Keep it up!

I am still going. Down to 196 from 260. Breaking the 200 mark was a huge milestone that I have set out to break many times. This is the first time I've made it since I went over it in 2001.

I'm feeling sporty now.

Down to 182 from 260. Started running and working out. Trying to get ready for a triathlon in the late spring/early summer.

Started at a 44" waist, down to 34" now. Gonna have to get new clothes for Christmas this year.

Dam dude. I won't recognize you this weekend

Bump for an update! Thinking about hooking up with this outfit for me and my old lady. :hi:

Thank you Glenn

I stopped the active weight loss just after Thanksgiving. June 16th was one year of when I started.

I am still down to 175-178 and running 5 miles 3 days a week. I am about to start P90X to get down another 15-20 pounds and firm up.

30/10 was some of the best money I ever spent. It has changed my eating habits permanently.

If you have access to a flex spending/health spending plan, it will cover almost all the costs with a doctors note saying you need to lose weight. At least you can pay for it with tax free money. That is what I did.

Let me know if you have any questions.
