So what is "Jeeping"? It's obviously different from 4-wheeling or off-roading since it's not under the same name...So....What is it?:corn:

Its a term that started before you andI (maybe not pokey--he was around before time itself :redneck:) were born. I have to admit its a catchy phrase that stuck around.

Jeepin to me is the guy you see at Evans in a brand new jeep with a bunch of JC Whitney bolt ons cruising the roads driving through mud puddles. and would wet his pants to the thought of even attempting the lower 311. so he drives home to seattle to feel accepted again.:D

Jeepin to me is for people who go trail running. As in running trails without the intent of damaging terrain or vehicles. Sometimes it happens but you don't shoot for it. To do this you don't need a JEEP but it is the most common vehicle used for it.


Wheelin is for the people who just want to go run over $h!+ and don't really care if they bend up their rigs or not. Nothing wrong with this either, just two different mind sets that happen to run the same trails.



When I go jeeping in my 05 Rubi (BTFW I know how to work on it) I try not to flop it or bend it or break parts. If Trail damage is imminent on an obsticle I GTF around. If there is not way to get around I will just go as easy as possible not to bend it up or break parts. This all being said my jeep is in my shop with 2 bend fenders crushed warn sliders a ripped soft top........ and a blown rearend! I'll get it fixed soon now that I am back to work after a year of UI.



Soon as I get things buttoned up on this jeep I will build something (probably another suzuki) to go wheeling in and Beat the snot out of.

To me, Jeepin ' started by getting off the paved road in my Jeep. It also meant, driving up Snoqulamie, Blewitt and Stevens in a snow storm and then turning around and going back! My girlfriend and I had no "wheelin' or Jeepin' friends. In our fifty's we were new to all this.

It wasn't until we found ourselves at the 4,000' level on a forest service road, on top of 3+ feet of snow packed road, and slid into a ditch, and ended up spending an unplanned night up there at in early February a few years ago that I realized I don't no **** about Jeepin'...the $1,000 towing bill kinda locked it in my memory banks...

That was two years ago. I'm still a noobradoodle. I've begun to build my heep as the budget allows. After 3 divorces, it's my daily driver and likely to be my frickin' home at some point, too! I spend each and every weekend at one of the many trail systems around here and have met dozens & dozens of folks on the trails and through the forums.

To me, "Jeepin'" isn't only Jeeps. It's all the other rigs out there, too. The people in the sport are a huge part of it, too. Being new, I was talking with a guy out at Elbe last weekend that enlightened me as to the conflicts that exist between buggy guy's/Big Wheels, Toy guys, Sammi guys & Jeep guys...etc. Seems ridiculous to me...and I truly had no clue. I don't care what you drive. I look at it like we're all in it for similar reasons, we just differ on what "flavor" we like.

I love the fact that I can drive my heep to the trails, wheel hard and then drive it to work or where ever the next day. I recently wheeled with a 1959 Uni-Mog. Loved that thing! It was so ahead of its time when it was built...

I routinely do the trails at Evans, Elbe, Manastash with a variety of rigs. Among my closest wheeling friends there's an 86 Toy, Xj's, Jeepsters, a Sammi, Lj's Tj's, Yj's, Jk's, Rubi's, the UniMog...I don't give a rats ass what they or you drive, let's just get rolling!

Getting off the paved road, out of the insane traffic, away from the frickin' cell phone, in the woods with mechanical beasts of burden, and great friends is what it is to me today...I love the **** out of it and regret not discovering this 40+ years ago...

To me, "Jeepin'" consists of a passion, an insatiable appetite for learning all there is to know about driving style & technique, repairs & builds, and just getting out there and having fun...

What is Jeepin' to me? The most fun I can have with my pants on...

This is kinda sorta on track... Its funny how Easter weekend every year in a little town called Moab Utah.. They have a little wheeling jamboree. Called The Easter Jeep Jamboree..NOW thats JEEPIN :fawkdancesmiley:


Although i do have to admit that as years have passed. Its just as much buggys, full size rigs, and yotas as jeeps.

I don't go "jeeping" because that implies segregation and brand loyalty. My Toyota has Jeep parts on it as well as Chevrolet, Nissan and Ford. I go wheeling and I'll wheel with anyone as long as you're not an asshole... Well more of an asshole than I am anyway. :flipoff:
