XJ/ZJ tranny ID?

Where do I found out what tranny this thing has? Tried the door, looked for a tag on the tranny and couldn't see anything, nothing under the hood. It backs the inline 6 and has a part time tcase instead of full time. I need to start searching for a new one.

I believe it is a 42RE. The V8 came with a 44re that year iirc

yea we did a little research at work. One of the guys thought they still had AW4's but it sounds like that isn't the case.. thanks!
