YJ Build...just a little different.

Educated guess would be around 275 - 290 pounds... I never weighed the axles. Rear is probably 240 - 250 pounds.

For the front axle? WOW that is a LOT lighter than I was thinking! A Dana 60 front is closer to 600Lbs I think.

More progress....

Suspension is finished...all links have been set and bolted in, coilovers have had the preload set and collars adjusted and now all I need to do is to charge the coilovers and play around with the pressure to get my ride height set. Hopefully this will get completed next weekend and this damn thing will finally be sitting on its own weight instead of four sets of jack stands.

Finally, it sits on its own weight. Charged the coilovers this morning, 175psi in the front and 125psi in the rear. Currently have 7 inches of shaft showing, going to let it sit for a day or so and see if it settles any and if it doesn't, I will play with the nitrogen level to get it down to 5 inches of up travel.

So I may have missed it, but are you running some sort of big shaft coilover to have a hybrid air shock? or is it just so light that the N2 charge makes that significant of a ride height difference with regular coilovers?

The coilovers are just regular Fox 2.0 remote reservoir with 80lb springs over 200lb springs in the front and 80lb over 175lb springs in the rear. The interior is stripped out, minimal gauges no heater or A/C, no rear seat. Hood and fenders have been replaced by a Chris Durham fiberglass hood, tail gate has been tossed and a piece of aluminum bent to match the tub lines will take its place. Corner guards are aluminum.I haven't weighed it yet but I believe it is going to be fairly light.

I didn't go back to check but I'm thinking you worked with Ryan@accutune. I have a YJ too, just not the light weight rig you do, but our spring rates are close, and I worked with Ryan at accutune on my tuning. That said, I'm running 200 psi on all 4 corners. I'm interested to see if the nitrogen changes do much. I was thinking it wouldn't affect height, but never tried it personally.

You are correct, I have been working with Ryan in regards to my shock setup, I am going to call him on Monday and see if he has any guidance before I start playing with my N2 levels.

Interesting choice on rear springs. I'm curious to see how those weights work out. I'm running a similar setup in the rear with 110 lb uppers and 130lb lowers and it's pretty soft. I still have leafs up front so that adds to the issue but I may take some pointers from you once you get this thing out.

After talking with Ryan, I will be making the following changes . In the front I will be taking 2" inches of preload out and that should get me down to the 5" ride height. In the rear, the 175lb lowers are getting swapped out for 85lb lowers and the N2 will be upped to 150PSI, which by Ryan's calculations should get me to the 5" ride height. Currently I am sitting at 7" of shaft showing on all four shocks.

It's been a few months since I updated this thread but progress has been made. The trans mount has been finished up and the Atlas is mocked up and I am only waiting on some tabs to finish up the mount. Swapped out the worn out factory motor mounts with some beefier mounts from Tom Brown and I also reinforced the front where the frame ends and the tube begins. I sent some chip board cutouts to Dan @ Motobilt and he hooked me up with the pieces to tie it all in. I also got the steering box mounted, drag link made and the radiator and electric fan mounted. Once I figure out how to change the size of the photos my camera takes, I will add some photos.

I am hoping to come in under 3000 lbs but at the moment I cannot give a weight. An educated guess would be 2900 - 3100 but it will be awhile before I can give an accurate weight.

Okay, I have the photo size fixed. Got the Atlas installed yesterday. I had to cut out some of the drivers side floornoard but it will get taken care of at a later date. The mount for the Atlas secures it around the rear output housing, ties in to the frame on the drivers side with a bushing and will also tie in with the transmission mount via some tube with flanges. Initially I was going to go from frame rail to frame rail just like the transmission mount but due to needing room for the muffler and the difficulty of being able to line up the attachment points, this seemed like a viable option. Driveshafts are on their way and it is getting down to all of the little items...Ha !...we all know how that goes right?
