How many gallons of gas does a 87 ,4.2,automatic YJ gas tank hold?

Some sources say 15 gal, others say 20 gal.
If I hazzard a guess, because of the 4.2L, I'd say 20.

That's cooooold. Not every YJ has a bashed in tank. Mine has a skid plate :awesomework: from Kilby.

Mine was so technically crash was close. Mine was closer to 10 gallons until I got that one tank from you. That one was a true 20 gallons.

from what I read the 15 and 20 gallon tanks are the same tank, but the 15 gallon one has a tube in it to prevent it from being filled all the way up? Heard you can snip it and make it a 20...
This is true its called the vent tube. Take it completely out and you have a 20 gallon tank.

what do you do when the gas expands and has no vent tube...dont cha think the 20 gallon tanks would have a similar tube?:eeek:
