You know darn well that's how we all started. That's how we learn. Less than 1% of us hit the trail in our first year with every harness made and a $10k cage!!

Personally I love those moments. Pushin a driver way out of their comfort zone. We can guarantee that guy and the whole group learned something about driving just then.

Like don't drop one wheel at a time off a ledge that is more than 3/4 the height of your tire.

Don't hate on him. Ask him if he wants you to put a strap on the opposite corner. He would know best. Lol
