I'm not paying PNW back for anything. I did my best to put that course back so eveyone could enjoy it. I just got off the phone with Rob your pnw comp chair and he said its not that bad and that he feels that we could all work togeher on this. I'm willing to do that and would love to see us all have a place to enjoy with our families and children.

Well we do work together dont we? I refer back to your response to Jim.
It sounds like you are mad at the PNW. I won't go thru the trouble of quoting you and responding to each quote that refers to my point but.
Do we not have people from the PNW that come to your events? Pay their money and participate in your events?
What types of things did you have to say over the loudspeaker at your event that may have disparaged the PNW?
Yet you have at least two threads started using the PNW forum to promote your event. So you must feel that you belong there in some capacity.
Did you not know that the PNW uses the gazebo for it's gathering place?
We dance there and do our trophys there. Would you want to set up your lawn chair there now and enjoy the company of your friends?
If you didn't know this, OK. But don't you think using that gathering area as an area to wash your trucks is inconsiderate?
I showed up at your event last year payed my money shook your hand and raced Steve. I did nothing to you to make you mad at me.
Yet your actions are hurting me.
Isn't there some way we can all get beyond this?

There's work to be done...and it's do-able. The gazebo being thrashed was a bit of a bummer to see, but also an easy fix, just a little messy. Work parties are a pain, but can be a lot of fun with all of us crazies doing it together. We'll just get out there, do it and it'll get done in time for the July races. I'll be out racing and having a good time with everyone else at Ethel. And Steve, I know you have quite a bit of unsavory feelings toward the PNW. Speaking for myself, I really do hope we can all work together towards a common goal......"having fun!!" I watched most of your event at Straddleline and it's an awesome feeling to see everyone out there playing in the mud and having a blast. Being a racer, I have that same feeling when the club I'm involved with puts on a successful event. It's alot of work, but it's definately worth it in the end.

Without getting involved in all the political BS I just want to say thank you to Steve. You put on one hell of an event and we had a great time at Happs and Straddeline. It is obvious you and your people put a ton of time, effort and expense into putting these events on and my family and I thank you. We'll see you in August.:awesomework:

the PNW Racers felt it was ok to destroy and level the Tuff truck course that we built last year, leaving us with nothing but flat ground.

And you did it with out the land owners permision who by the way pays for 1/2 of all the improvements we make out there and he didn't really appreciate the fact that we were going to half to pay to do it again. It is obviouse to me that you have no regard for us and have no problem pushing dirt so if your not happy with it, then fix it just like I had to.

When I got to the site I found all the fencing posts tore down, our 4x4 posts we planted to provide shade pulled up fence posts throwed in the mud pits, Honey buckets tore up and The tuff truck course demolished.

Is all this true? did the PNW guys level the Tuff Truck course? They seem to be dodging the question by bringing up some mudd on a cement pad. Guess what guys mud comes off with a hose alot easierthan having to replant fence post and rebuild jumps

Steve,
Somewhere along the line OUR sport became all about you.
Somewhere along the line you forgot that there were people lives and the lives of our children that you were effecting for you.
Somewhere along the line you decided to split the four wheel drive community in two for your own selfish reasons.

For what?
For Steve Russell,

I'm not sure how this is all about Steve Russell, Last I checked they had over 90 trucks run in the mud bog on Sunday and between 700 & 800 poeple show up to spectate.

Oh and guess what alot of them were kids!!

I've never been to a PNW event insept for the ones that Steve was involved. I'm guessing thats because nobody wants to get out there and advertise like Steve does.

He does a great thing for our sport by giving guys that never heard of the PNW a place to come and play. By the way how many rigs ran in your last event?

Dude, I know the answer to the question. But why don't we let Steve answer it. There is a ton of back and forth, tit for tat, nitpicking **** that could go on.
But is it really worth agonizing over whether the tuff truck course was in an unsafe position and needed to be modified to its customary location for a race?
Is it worth figuring blame as to who should pay for fence posts drilled thru waterlines that have to be repaired?
I don't know the answer to these questions.
But I do know that fighting between us and paybacks for perceived injustices will only drive a wedge between folks that should be working together on issues of fun.
In the end we are all four wheelers. We all love to tear up our **** and put it back together. I guarantee you if this infighting continues it will hurt all of us.

Dude, I believe that the mudslingers had there share of wheelers and there share of kids out there playing as well, Happ owns the property, not the PNW.
Everybody wants a place to play, not just the PNW, as proven by the events that the mudslingers put on. Why come down on one group as you state that we should all work together, then sling mud about the PNW race event are ruined, just like the PNW wrecked the mudslinger courses. If Happ wants to rent the property out, and use it for more then one venue, then everybody has to work together, or everybody can just bitch about everybody.....
The PNW does not own the land or have the right to tell Happ what he can do there. How is the PNW crowd more important then anybody else?:;

Hey There....I know I wasn't there when things were planned out with the land owners...were you? None of us should be throwing stones if we don't know the WHOLE story. I just wish all of us could work together to make it fun for everyone. It's a lot easier to do it that way. Taking sides isn't the way to go when it comes to this stuff. With everything, there will be folks that aren't happy with the outcome. Like Steve said before, it's dirt, we push it around to make it the way we need it. It's all good, dirt can be moved and races can be run. There's just a severe lapse in communication and hopefully that can be remedied in the near future. I, for one, would love to see us all working together before things get out of hand and venues get shut down.

I think the reason the racers (pnw) are upset is because they are the ones that found the site, did all of the ground work with the owner and did all of the work to create the facility. They cleared the brush they made the courses and they have been maintaining them ever since. I dont believe for a moment that they arnt willing to share they just dont want what they built destroyed so they have to keep rebuilding over and over. I dont think anybody would feel any differant if they were the ones with the vested interests.

the popcorn aint gonna cut it if you have something to say then you should just say it:awesomework:

But I like eating popcorn. :corn:

Seriously, I just don't get this them and us mentality when we all want the same thing, to have some 4-wheeling fun.

Steve puts on some great events. The racing play days are also great events. A fair amount of work has to go into preparing the site for a mud bog, mud drag, tuff truck or play day (aka race). However, we (racers) use the property differently than Steve's events, and unfortunately our needs and his needs don't always mesh very well.

There is plenty of property for all of us to use, and use together. I think a little communication between event organizers would go a long, long way.

I encourage Steve (and anyone else) to come to a race to see how we use the site. The next Ethel race is on the 4th of July weekend. I also encourage the racers to check out Steve's event. That way everyone is on the same page and can coordinate how to build courses that are fun and safe for everyone and no one will feel like their "home" is getting vandalized by the other.

I could not agree with you more. :hi: Very well said.
I responded to Steve's initial post and I admit sometimes the typed word may not come across as if a couple folk were sitting across from each other.
That is where I believe this should go. It is not hard to get a couple people with cool heads out at the property and make agreements. I'm sure between wheelers a handshake would suffice. :awesomework:
Rather than argue about who did what, why not discuss what can be done for the benifit of both?
Imagine if the place incorporated both and all types of events.
Like I said, we are all four wheelers.

Steve,

How in the world do you look at yourself in the mirror in the morning
For what?
For Steve Russell,
You should be ashamed of yourself. PNW races build community and family.
Children sitting on parents laps help save our childrens lives when they begin to drive on the streets.
What you did last weekend was vindictive, as your post reveals.
I can only hope that God in heaven forgives you for your hatred.
Because from the outside looking in, it is not a pretty sight.

Normally I am a lurker on this site but with crap like this being slung at a person who just wants EVERYONE to beable to enjoy these events is BULLSHIT.

For the record I agree we need to work together as one fourwheeling community, but seeing stuff like this posted for everyone to see. And telling him what he did was vindictive makes it a little hard to buy into that you are in it for everyone

Please keep in mind that the opinions of one person aren't the opinions of the whole group...

He has admitted himself that part of what he did was in anger and vindictive.
I was referring to his own words in my post. Reading the entire thread is always helpful.

OKay you guys....this is waaaaaaay out of hand now. Let's just stop. How about that? Steve put on a great event, the racers will put on a great event, end of story. All of the people that work their fannies off to put these events together are NOT going to benefit from all of this crap. We all do things that piss people off, all of us. Why do we need to keep going over and over and over it? There will never be perfection. We need to stick together and work towards a common goal! Like when all of us were standing on the steps of the capital last year waving our signs and fighting for our sport. Holy cow people.....get over it! It's dirt, nothing more, nothing less. Everything can be fixed. It's not irrepairable and the name calling is just immature.
