Obviously, eating, drinking, and sleeping are conditions upon which God intended for your life to depend. That's always been true, from day one. Even Adam and Eve had to eat, drink, and sleep.

This is different. Was modern chemotherapy or radiation treatment intended to be a condition upon which your life depends? What if it hadn't been invented yet? What if you've never heard of it and have no way to get such treatment?

Moreover, God created everything, therefore he created cancer. And, he created and introduced it long before people had a snowball's chance in hell of surviving it.

When man fell at the beginning it changed the course of how God interacted with man, God gave us wisdom and with that we have come up with modern medicine, and we have the wisdom to use it. If you have no way of treatment then you die, that's life, God doesn't step in every time I get hurt or sick, we are saved by faith, and he wants to keep it as faith, if he stepped in every time then you would be able to PROVE his existence to everyone, they would no longer be saved through faith, but through the fear of the alternative, it's just his way of separating the goats from the sheep.

Silly questions. God didn't give me cancer! If your son gets cancer did YOU give it to him? You made your son just like God made us. It was my responsibility to fight the disease and try to continue living. In doing so I showed respect for and honor to the life God gave me. :awesomework:

Why does god only help some people with cancer? My aunt died of cancer at 48 and she was the most religious person that I knew. Apparently god was on vacation that day.

He created the DNA, including the imperfection that is cancer. Therefore he created cancer.

Moreover, he is omnipotent. He knows all. He knew before creating the first elementary particle of the Universe who would get cancer and whether or not he'd survive.

Free will and faith are an illusion to be enjoyed by you. Your destiny, down to every quantum fluctuation in your body and every quantum fluctuation anywhere in the Universe that will ever effect you in any way, all is predetermined. You just aren't privy to that information.

In that sense, God gives people cancer, and in some cases cures it.

I don't claim to have all the answers, but I do know that God heals, His timing is not announced to me, so I don't know why sometimes He heals and sometimes He doesn't, but He healed my son of heart problems instantly, the doctors have no explanation for what happened, I was there and witnessed it personally. Everyone makes their own choice, and I never force my beliefs on anyone, but I know and have witnessed miracles before, therefore I choose to believe, it doesn't make me smarter or better than anyone else, just different.

What the Constitution says

The battle about the oath is stupid.

The oath prescribed by the Constitution doesn't say God in it. Period.

As to the Bible. The story works, if you have faith. Faith is the key that unlocks it all.

I am not Christian, but I do recognize it's role in humanity and here and now.

I liken religion to cops. Sure I don't like being told what to do either. But for the most part is is in our best interests not to break laws. In Religion as with cops there are bad ones, but they are not representative of the larger group. If there were no cops or religion the world would be a much worse off place.


Just to toss around some numbers. Lets say 2% of American Christians were bad pedophiles and law breakers. How does that compare to the general population? People point to the few and say "see I told you religion is bad" Yet ignore all the good that is done by christians. Christians are the people who DON'T steal broken generators out of your carport. Non christians are !!!!


One thing is for sure. Since the US has turned away from being religious things are much worse. Are there other factors. You bet.

Crime is up, devorce is up, kids these days are ****ED up big time, society is being torn appart by some big lion in the room.

Can you or I put a finger on exactly what the problem is? It's hard to say. But Religious beliefs about treating people with respect and following the "rules" of religion is at a very low point.

Again I will say I don't like being told what to do. But there have to be rules to to be followed in any society or it is mass chaos, and we are seeing that chaos unfold before our very eyes. :booo:

The question is: Can we have a moral compas that is not tied to Religion?

In all of time Religion, right and wrong have been tied together. Every person is effected by religion even if they don't believe. Morals are taught in religion more times that in any other way. It is hard to seperate them.

The only religion that is intolerant of other religions is Islam, now there are "religious" people that are intolerant, but I am referring to the core values of each religion. Look at the middle east, if you disarm the countries surrounding Israel there wouldn't be any more killings, if you disarm Israel, there wouldn't be any more Israel
