How are kids doing it these days?

As a guy two years out of high school who now lives alone and bums Internet off the house next door with my iPod touch. I will admit my English is crap for one reason only not that I don know how to spell it if I didn't hurry or know how and where to use commas, it is because I am lazy it's to hard on this tinny thing.


The same with this hole topic it is not just schools or just kids it is because both are to lazy to care. Schools are there to get ya threw or out and high testing adverges and kids are there to score drugs get laid and because they have to. True not for all but it's school who liked it no one sept for mr. Proffesor up above. It's plain fact that kids and schools are lazy to help them selves or help someone else both are there for different adjedas then what they should be there for.

It really is sad. I have a few friends who ask me to spell some very basic words for them. I just laugh at them first, then go about spelling it for em. It really is pathetic.

Text messaging is worse then posting in a forum. I refuse to cut words in half, or shorten them in some idiotic way, to save a couple seconds. It takes me twice as long to figure out what my older sister is trying to tell me in a text message, then any of my friends. My Dad won't even answer her or her 16 year old daughters text messages anymore. Anytime they try, he responds with "call me" :haha:. He won't even call my niece because instead of a ring, she has rap music playing. My Dad can't stand that crap :haha:

I've had to write for the construction projects I've been on have been a stretch for me. Getting the verbiage and logic correct is pretty hard and I assume with the position your in you've had to write or review your fair share.

You guys are absolutely right. There are many fields of work you can get into without being a scholar but there's very few where you can move up very far without some basic skills. You can even be a fairly smart person but have poor writing and your peers will think you're just a idiot and it will hold you back.
Myself at work I put extra effort into my writing to make sure it's correct where places like here on the net I don't really care too much. The way I often look at it is if my competition/ co workers make themselves look bad it's just a leg up for me.:awesomework:

I don't know about industry wide but GM has gone to alot of abreviations. But these are not simple words but rather longer/complex items like UBEC, TCM and so on (typicly for control modules). Myself I use abreviations for those types of items because writing some like "Transfercase Control Module" multiple times can be a pain when you can use "TCM" instead.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using acronyms or abbreviations in place for long winded technical terms. All published technical papers are full of acronyms and abbreviations, hell even some of the text books I use at school have them.

I don't agree fully, at some point yes it becomes the individuals responsibility, but when does that begin? 12 yrs old, maybe 15 yrs old, but prior to that, it is the responsibility of the parents to instill values, work ethics, and pride in what they do, a lot does fall on the school system, it has become lackadaisical with the political correctness of passing everyone, because it is unfair to give a retarded child (pardon me, a brilliantly disadvantaged, special needs young American) a failing grade, guess what we are not all equal, and some need more help than others.

I fully agree with you. But a small child can't possibly be put in this mix of personal responsibility. Therefore that goes back to the Individual responsibility of the parent. Each person of a certain age and beyond is what I'm talking about. Say 8-10 years old on up after that is't all up to the individual.

And schools are simply a collective of individuals.

Yes alot of it comes from the parenting now of days, I think alot of it has to do with so many young teens/adults having children who are not ready to grow up & take responsibility for their own kids. Like Jay dog said its the parents responsibility to teach them things like values, work ethics, pride, manors, etc.....

I think all the laws & bias opinions now of days also affects the children, just like spanking your children. Now its considered "Child abuse" but I think sometimes a good ol fashion ass woopin will straighten some kids out. I got my ass wooped if I did something to deserve it when i was younger & I turned out alright :cheer:

I'm not good at the whole spelling, grammar or punctuation for that matter, But there have been some bad post in this thread critiqueing the people that are posting bad in threads. Maybe its just me but are we all being a little to hypocritical of others ? I agree some people can't spell or make a decent post to save their lives, but to nit-pick one then post another of similar but slightly better stature isn't much better.

This wasn't directed straight at you crash your post was just the last one I read before posting
