My Bus,,, My Bus,,, My Bus...

Luey too drunk too climb a set of stairs:haha: Never seen that happen before:haha:

At least I don't hold up the trees while puking...:haha:

Well, the guy advertised it as a 30' bus, I just measured it and it's 25'... It has 20' of useable space behind the drivers seat...

Sandtrap1986... There was one for sale in Puyallup off 512 by the mini-golf place... I talked to the guy, even drove the bus, might still be for sale... If you're interested let me know...

or running gear at the swapmeet...i love the flatbed one with the lift boom .used to be a old jeeping buddy of my dads in this area named murphy the jeep man..who had a four wheel drive buss that he drove jeeps in.anyone remember murphy.he sold out to goerge and jim kimbole

Do you know what (if needed) has to be done as far as licensing a school bus as an RV??? Does it (will it) need to pass some sort of inspection and need to be put in a certain RV class??? I've always wanted to convert a school bus!!

Pretty simple, you need 3 things to make it an RV... Shitter, cooker and sleeper... Doesn't have to be nice, just functional...

Take it to WSP to get inspected($65), pay for the title to be switched from commercial bus to RV($125)...

That's after you've already titled it in your name...

It made since to me, I can't afford to buy an RV that has a diesel and the frame to handle towing... And didn't want to deal with a truck and camper... I don't need all the "fluff" that's put into the store bought ones... I want it simple and functional...

EDIT::: Oh yeah, I can build ****...:redneck:

I thought about doing the same thing years ago but was told by my insurance broker that they were a pain to get certified to get insurance on. May have to look into that again for the same reasons you listed they just make sense. Might even be worth taking all of the good parts out of my MH to put in a bus. hmmmm :eeek:Looks like a fun project.

Damn, your older than me or close to it if you remember that :haha:

I got this info directly from the DMV... Then after it's titled as an RV, you just pay RV insurance...

I thought about finding a cheap travel trailer and switching everything over, but my neighbor is tearing one down for the frame and I snagged all the tanks and dump plumbing...

The issue was getting a insurance company to cover it it it wasnt "certified" I dont know I never looked into it much after he shot me down :booo:

Good find on the trailer parts :awesomework:

been rolling down these trails along time....grew up in the outriders and wheeled with every club in the area....now i own a toyota and lots a guys wont wheel with me anymore.....my dad got lots a guys doing this stuff....they just got my grandpas jeep running after 35 years...he was a yakima ridge runner and i just seen them lower the jeep down the cliff by hand on the nachies with don mccunn in black and white..its in the blood

Thats probably the one the guy just snagged LOL that would be my luck...it sat in this dudes yard for years and i figured it would sit there till i asked him how much he wanted for it...so i was biding my time then WAM some ass comes and snatches it...funny thing is it ran and drove no issues and here i thought it was all broken.

Here's a couple things I've been tossing around in my head...

I want to skin the back 4 windows on each side...

But, I want to do something about the other windows... I was thinking about rv windows, then I noticed the Chevy parts truck I have in the yard... I might cut out the back window and install it as a side window in the bus... I could cut the cab so I'll have the factory opening that I could weld onto the bus in place of the existing windows...

Then I started looking at the neighbors canopy...:redneck: I could pick up a canopy for cheap the has side windows that could be used...

Next thing is the flooring... I was considering the shop rubber mat that Harbor Freight carries... It's 24"x24" and goes together like a puzzle... 1/2" thick and has a nice shock absorbing feel... It could help with dampening road noise as well as insulate... It can be cut to any shape and would also be removable for cleaning or replacement if wore out... My brother has some in his garage on the concrete floor and it helps a lot in the winter keeping your feet from freezing like the concrete does...

Have you thought about looking for a old school mobile home Or motor home. For parts stoves, heaters, frige, windows ect ect.?

Yeah, I'm keeping my eyes open for a travel trailer or something... Then after I strip all the stuff I want out of it, I can use the frame for a utility trailer...

Got most of the seats out today...

Need to find a hitch for it... It'll be able to tow the Blazer while I'm doing **** to the inside... I'll just use the air mattress, camp stove and trail shitter in it...:redneck:

So, here's what I'm thinking...
BUSFLOORPLAN.jpg

I'm going to build the dinette, that way I've got storage and it will turn into a bed... Same goes for the sofa, it will be about 6' long... Sort of along these lines..

file.php

file.php

The bunks will have a top and bottom bunk for both... I'll have some heavy black fabric as curtains on each to block out the light... Something like this...

file.php

Still thinking the lift thing through... I might take it apart and use the rams and motor to build a deck off the back that I can deploy with the touch of a button... The biggest issue is, you can't close the door if it's deployed... I may have to mount it to the back and move my tail/signal lights onto the underside of the deck...

Once you climb underneath and see where your holding tanks will fit that may change the location of your fixtures but otherwise looks like an efficient layout.

The wheel wells are under the dinette, rear bunk, sofa closest to toilet and the sink/fridge... The fuel tank is under the front bunk...

That leaves from the sink to the front of the rear sofa open underneath and under the toilet... That's why everything is on that side...

Already have my fresh, gray and black water tanks... Along with the pump for the fresh water... I have the plumbing for the waste dumps as well... Hoping I can make it all fit...

Any plans for a shower? That's my most wanted item on a road trip

Shitter/shower combo?

Nope... Shitter only with an outdoor shower...

Here's the layout of the tanks...
BUSTANKPLACEMENT.jpg

Got the seats all out... The ones still in there are just for mock up to give me a feel for the space...

The ones facing sideways are positioned where the sofa will go...

The seats facing each other will be the dinette location...
