That's not just in Obama :swing: style, its also the view of most union tools now a day. What gets me is when these dumbasses compare what they make to what a CEO makes. REALLY? You are not a CEO! You are a replaceable labor rate. If you want the money of a CEO then try working for it with schooling and skills rather then sitting around a *****ing about it. Its no wonder Seattle elected a damn socialist, bunch dumbasses.

Aren't most Boeing employees educated and trained for years to get where they're at? I'd be pretty pissed if what I signed up for was changed under me.
This whole debate is really around 'replaceable labor'. Boeing wants to try to squeeze every cent it can out of its employees. What will tell with time is if its worth it. It certainly didn't work with the 787. If I were Boeing, I'd go with the people who've been building planes for years instead of trying to find some new inexperienced labor that is cheaper.
Unions are people, and these people aren't evil. I laugh when I heard unions are evil. They aren't. They are people organizing to get and maintain fair compensation for the work they do.
But lucky me, the demand in my industry for employees is so high that we don't need unions. Instead we get high turnover. Its rare to see employees last over 5 years before someone gives them a better offer.

oh dont worry this is not just union workers that think this way, its everybody *****ing about what someone else has and makes. at my job everyone *****s about what the owner drives and owns, but they dont have the balls to start there own company so there just content on *****ing about what they dont have.

Actually it makes perfect sense. With all the private companies taking their private jobs out of this state/country the majority of Washington's employment will be in the form of socialist single payer entitlement programs such as law enforcement, forest service, city and county maintenance, department of fish and wildlife, etc. As private employment continues to dissipate in America the people will look to the service sector as the only real option to make a living. A Socialist candidate is the perfect fit to represent these people.
In Detroit social workers such as police and fire are being told their pensions will only be paid out pennies on the dollar, if that at all. This is everyone from the currently employed to the already retired. Knowing that the rest of America is headed in that same direction, they'll need all the help they can get to protect their contracts and promises. A socialist candidate is the best bet for these people.
If boeing pulls out of Washington completely it will put this state on the fast track to Detroit level status. I just hope if Boeing does leave they go somewhere with good wheeling. Colorado or any surrounding state would be perfect.

Not sure who have talk to but the training for Boeing is about 1 month for a mechanic on the line. It has even been shortened. The training we do have is to meet OSHA regs and FAA regs. There is a joke inside Boeing that is not much of a joke, if you can fog a mirror then you can have a job.

Not sure what you do for Boeing , but the mechanics that actually build the aircraft go through 3 months of training to get some basics, then there training continues once they are on the shop floor shadowed by senior mechanics. I have 2 pages of certifications that I have to have to build the 777... Sure there are jobs at Boeing that don't require much skill but every profession has that.
If you hate Boeing and the union so much go find other work...

Training changes from time to time. Sometimes it's 13 weeks, other times it's 6. I have more certs then most. It's not exactly difficult. Who said we hate Boeing?

I spent a few yeas on the 737 as a rework mechanic fixing the errors of "skilled" mechanics. Got sick of it and got moved to Auburn. Now I lead an area with 7 people who bust their asses, its nice. I had over 36 certs when I was in Renton and still I will say without issue, anyone can do this work.
As for leaving....working on it. Its not Boeing I hate or really the union. Its the dip****s that are in the union and think Boeing owes them something.
Plus, I am just sick of the wet side of WA. I want four real seasons rather then a long rain season with a week of sun and maybe a day of snow. I have wanted to move sense before I was at Boeing (sense I was 12) and am now going to do it.

No. If you work at wallyworld and you're unhappy with the conditions or compensation you are free to find another job that meets your criteria.
I know the next part of the argument is that wallyworld comes in and forces the mom & pop places out. Unfortunately for that argument wallyworld can't just waltz on in and build anywhere they wish. The elected officials of the area have to approve the move and the voters put them there.

Unions were created to protect workers from being injured or dying due to unsafe conditions etc. Nobody is dying or getting maimed while in the employment of wallyworld that I'm aware of.
People seem to think that wallyworld is a career then ***** they don't get higher pay and bennies for their menial job. Those that work hard and have intelligence either move up the food chain or go work elsewhere. The lazy, dumb or those that lack ambition stay there year after year *****ing about it yet doing nothing to better themselves.

Yup. The states have taken it upon themselves to protect the workers. Unions are becoming more and more useless every year. Hence why more and more of them are over stepping their bounds. People who work at walmart don't have much going on in the head for the most part. Those that do move up or move on. Unions just make everyone equal. Even if the work loads are not nor the effort put forth. The lazy make the same as the ones who bust their asses. So why would people bust their asses for no extra pay? They don't for the most part. Hence why Boeing has the head count they do. They need it to make up for the fact that so many in the union are lazy asses who just want more money for doing less work.
Well, it's looking like we can add The United Arab Emirates to the list of possible locations for the 777 to be built. Apparently Boeing inked a deal with an Abu Dhabi based company for composite materials worth 2.5 billion dollars while they were at the air show.
With today's globalized economy, who says Boeing has to stay in North America at all? This is getting even more interesting. Guess we'll know in 2 or 3 months...

Emirates has told boeing they want the new 777 built in the USA and they want all of it built in the USA. They don't want a repeat of the 787.
