I am a slow lane queen so don't you worry about that, I know how you feel, I get stuck behind a old lady doing 45mph and it pisses me off.
 
OK so only toyotas wheel legal. Straight to the rock garden, break a birf then struggle back to the trailer....
The rest of us are breaking the law. Is there a priority on what laws should be followed and not? Is it a pick and choose thing for some? The issue of drinking and wheeling isn't based on a law, that's just one part of it. Other issues are safety, respect for others and respect for the trails. If you can do these things then I see no reason why not to have a :beer: or two on the trail. After your off the trail your still responsible for your own actions. If you have question what "responsible for your own actions" means just ask me before getting behind the wheel of your tow rig drunk so I can flatten some tires.:;

Question then. If/when you bust or get stuck, you think it is not as dangerous as driving down the highway?

I would think crawling around a rig stuck on a hi-lift on uneven ground buzzed would rate pretty high on the danger scale. Or how about when your working around a really taught winch cable?

Same deal. If you have a half a brain and know how to use your equipment, you think a couple beers is going to make much of a difference? If so, then I suggest you're a danger when you're sober as well.

Well then, why can't you use the same philosophy for driving a 10,000 lbs rig at 60 miles an hour? I don't a see the difference between that and having your rig fall on you because your not being as cautious as you would normally be, due to the buzz on.

I don't give two ****s if your rig falls on you, that's your own fault DRUNK OR NOT. That isn't the same thing as driving your 10K lbs truck/trailer through an intersection and killing innocent people.

I hate it when people use "the law" as there only arguement. Not saying you are, just reminds me of a kind of person... So, you never go one mile over the speed limit, turn without a blinker, make noise after ten pm, etc... If we obeyed every law we would be sitting at home staring at out televisions waiting for the government to tell us what to do next... sheep! Oh, wait! We would have to work to avoid tax evasion laws...

Just saying, I think there are times to bend a little.

But a lot a people wheel in groups. What about the guy that comes up to your rig to say something to you and then leans on your rig or some other stupid thing and it falls on you? Or what about being up at funny rock as a spectator and one of these guys does something stupid and ends up plowing **** into someone because he was slightly impaired.

It's called a Darwin award....and I wish it would happen more often as the world has far to many idiots.

So drink up all you wheelin rednecks and get some liquid courage in ya so you can do society a favor and go kill yourself on the trail.

I disagree. I make an effort to follow them the best I can. I can assure you I have plenty of fun dry.

FWIW I don't watch media TV (mostly Discovery or TLC) or read the liberal rags this state has to offer.......

Drinking while operating a motor vehicle is against the law and I will help to enforce it.

Save it for the camp afterwards (and if you are smart you will give it all to the womens and watch the fun! I love to see jugglies bouncing in the moonlight!) :redneck:

Hot day, long morning of wheeling, have lunch and a cold beer. I see no problem personally. But being 6'2" and 240lbs 1 beer on a full stomach impared does not me make. However would I do it if it were more than a mellow trail ride back to camp.....nope. For the record I would never drink even 1 beer when wheeling with a group, to many things to stay sharp on.
 
No drinking and wheelin for me either; except maybe one on a hot day with lunch---And NO beer if wheeling w/ large group either....Too much to potentially go wrong!!!
 
WHERE DO YOU DRAW THE LINE???? everyones alcohol tolerance is different .....and its hard to judge if your buddy is too drunk to wheel using his best judgement if youve had a few yourself.............. in my opinion it is just easier to not have to decide and just not allow it. NOT TO MENTION it is very easy to fog the line between on and off road when your drunk saying QUOTE" I can handle my buggy just fine drunk....I think im fine to drive the tow rig home" I am kind of biased on this issue my aunt and uncle were killed by a drunk driver and he only got 6 months in jail !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks.. my .02
 
as a passenger yes, as a driver no. ive learned my lesson. also to much time and $$$ rapped up in my pile of toyota parts. things have also changed for me in the last year or so. im one of those people that has a hard time stayin at 1 or 2 beers. me and drinking dont have a problem, its the stopping part that i suck at. so for me i just DONT drink at all anymore.

What line between on and off road, driving is driving and drinking is drinking. Drinking and then driving is illegal, period, and even more so drinking WHILE driving. There's your line.
 
hmm this all seems so farmiliar i watched one of my best friends get killed by a drunk driver when i was 13, i will never forget watching it happen.
I love to wheel and i love to drink but i will never ever combine the 2 of them no way will i drink and drive and endanger the life of my family or the people around me.
 
I choose to drink when I choose to drink, whether it be at my house, a bar or the trail for that matter, I used to spend alot of time hammered at the sand dunes and if i still lived close i'd probably still be there, i think its a choice and as long as you don't affect others in doing so its fine, but you must be willing to take responsibility for your actions, which most people are incapable of doing sober

This one's pretty funny though... (I wonder if he is an approved spokesperson for Old English "800"?)

I think you're all just ASSUMING it's alcohol... My guess is he just had to drain the pocket lizard and happened to use that OE bottle he had picked up while removing trash from the trail.
