Heres the run down...I had a 90 wrangler(pics on introduce section). Didn't want to F it up so I sold it. Went to a towing auction one day and over in the corner of this lot I met my new love(it was a beautiful day by the way), a 1989 white, standard cab, short box, 2WD, 4.0, 5sp. JEEP Comanchee. Thanks to some old a-hole....he ran the bid up on me to $300....could of got it for $175(but NOOOOOO!) So in spite of what my wife told me....I bought it....just like any man would do(not having any idea if it ran or even moved. Heres a pic of what I started with.

In the second picture is NotMatt.

When I got it home the first thing to do was to see if the biotch ran....tore apart the steering and put a new ignition switch(what Matts helping with), Matt brough over a battery, I checked and filled all the fluids(adding a new cooling bottle cap)....Turned the key...and she fired right up and I drove her down the street! SWEET!(now my wife wouldn't cut off my balls)

So the next day....I had all the common cooling problems so we went to Matts parent house got a fan and fan clutch, and I went and bought a new thermostat and gasket and installed those...still overheating....so I went and bought a new aftermarket 3 row radiator and BAM...problem solved.(for now)

Oh...and I need a new starter the next day also.

So, I'm into this thing about $300(purchase of truck), $24(tax), $67(Transfer title), $30(ignition switch, fluids, thermostat, and gasket), $96(starter), $96(radiator) TOTALING....$613 FOR A GOOD RUNNER!:fawkdancesmiley:

I forgot to mention that the MJ had a rear D44. Score...by selling it...I hope to offset most of the costs I just listed...

So....like I was saying....I sold my Wrangler. Well, that same day I found a sweet deal on Craiglist.

1972 Dodge D200 FF D60 and a 1978 Ford F250 HP D44 for $800.

Both axles have new seals, bearings, gears, completely new brakes, and front new u-joints, rear-new yoke. GOOD DEAL!

And on top of that....Aluminum 8 lug 16.5 Wheels with 35's....which will get the Jeep rolling...but I will sell in the future. Cant have nothing shiny!:awesomework:

**** sorry....i guess I didn't look close enough...I forgot he took the steering wheel off!

Gettin r' done

Okay...so Monday I tracked down 2 A/C compressors and a makeshift intake, also I managed to located an AW4+231(91)and took apart the D44 pass. Knuckle off, Tuesday I sent the knuckle to parts mike to get machined, drilled and tapped for high steer arms, ordered BDS mil wrap 2in YJ leafs(GREAT WARRANTY) and Tuesday night I gots the shitty 2wd pugoet 5sp. out. Stripped the top right bellhousing bolt....f___ing sweet! Anyways, Wednesday night I got the D44 all disconnected and pulled out.(FOR SALE)

Then if that wasn't enough...I went and tracked down some hella hard to find U-bolts for the 60.

D60 In!!

So after the wife got home from work...I went and picked up the AW4-231, driveshaft, torque convertor, shifters, and wireing BS.

Then I busted ass and put the 60 in and put the rear wheels and tires on...I think the pinion angle is close, but I can't set it for sure till I put the tranny in. I got a buch of weight in the back....it will be about an inch taller...I'm hoping to run 36 or 37's....maybe 38's...tires don't stick out but about 3 inches in the back....that isn't nearly as bad as I thought it was gonna be...:D

Oh MATT...NOTICE THE SILVER JACK HANDLE! PICKLE FORKS WORK GREAT FOR A HANDLE!

Parts Mike stuff...

So this is what I will get back from parts mike...my knuckle finished, the high steer arms and kit, the gm tie rod end and draglink end, the front shackle kit, and the rear spring hanger kit.(for when I have to cut the LCA mounts off)

The picture of the double 231's is what I want to do also...not sure if this will get done before or after the build....its about $500 alone for the kit and I would need to find another 231. 7.46:1? total gear reduction in low:low. cheaper than the teralow 4:1 kit and better results...plus in the future if you wanted could do the 4:1 with 2 low....sweet!

actually its lower than 5:1 you multiply them by each other not add them. thee dd machine kit is good thats what i have

nice!.....7.46:1? Cause that is super sweet! Anyways, I picked up the hardlines and got a braided extension given to me by Matt so I can get the brakes finished on the 60. Also I picked up the 4x4x1/4 angle for the front crossmember where the shackle hangers will be welded. I went to Norco and traded in my 160cu. acytelene tank for a full 60cu. tank for my welder...finally...no more flux core! Needed to do that for a long time! I'll get busy this weekend!

Made the new front crossmember

First of all I need to make taller jackstands...2 landrover rotors welded together and then the jackstands welded to that.

Then I cut off the lower section of the sheet metal...

...took some 4x4x1/4 (38.5in long) angle and notched it where the stock bumper gets mounted so I could have extra to weld to....and pounded the metal up and in.

...welded her up...done with that until I get the shackle hangers and then I will decide if I should gusset the sides or cut any off...

Tranny swap

Removed the stock 2wd 5sp. pugoet (sp.?) and picked up an 91' AW4+231. Waiting on 87-90 flexplate...apparently the cps picks up diffently with the 91+.

Matt and I battled the stupid tranny for a while that day...I didn't realize the pugoet used a sleave around the pilot bearing....so ya...

The crossmember was a direct bolt in...the holes are there from the factory to move it back with the t-case.

Heres some pics of the shackle hangers...stock wrangler shackles for now and the BDS springs, plus the angle I welded to the frame for the rear leaf mounts....still need to box and gusset the rest of the frame...but I wanna get it all mocked up first.
