I had axle wrap really REALLY bad and the last run out it stressed the bottom of the 3rd so bad it snapped the bottom 2 studs and pulled on the next two studs up and bent the sealing surface of the housing! So i did quite a bit of research on a track bar and built one. I know its not on the passenger side (gas tank is in the way) and its at an angle but two things i thought: Center is better than fully on drivers side and anything is better than horrible axle wrap. Whatcha think?

Two more. Should i add more bracing in the upper mount on the housing?

Mama says lift blocks is the debil!!!:haha:

Looks good:awesomework: I like the recycling of an old front housing track bar bracket and stock yota shackles:cool:

Is that a leaf spring eye that you used to make the frame side mount? Definitely going to want to beef that up if so.... otherwise it looks like it should do the job.

we were just talkin about that like a month ago when i picked up that motor from ya, i figured it would have busted a leaf in the pack of trashed the whole pack before you snapped any studs. But it looks great overall, maybe a lil bracing on the frame end and on the track bar mount too.

looks like a good style for leafs:awesd yetomework:

Is it tested and aproved yet?

Just up and down the road from my house, no real wheelin yet. Ill post up how it does:awesomework:

I know i know:redface: I just really like the 51in springs, nice and flat, they flex and work really good for me. Just needed the extra height with the 38.5s and blocks did the trick:kiss:
And yes stuff laying around the house worked good...front track bar bracket, stock shackles and the leaf spring eyelet:redneck:

Yes, its a spring eyelet and its welded really good front, back and sides and there is a brace coming off the top and goes up into the bend of the frame crossmember, its kinda hard to see in the pic. I attached another pic and outlined the brace. All the force/stress on the frame/shackle mount will be upward, so i figured with that top brace it should be enough? Few trips out i guess ill find out!

Just an update....

This thing is AWESOME, totally strong enough just how i built it and is it just amazing the difference between having BAD axle wrap to none. Before i would dump the clutch or just even giving it throttle or just normal taking off, and it would be a second or two before i would move and it was just loose and unstable. Energy would just go to the springs and they would soak it all up and just twist. Kinda hard to explain. But now its like instant traction, power is directed right to the tires and all the energy is put right to the ground. Much more stable feeling wheeling and even on gravel roads and such. :cheer:

Here is some input..

First you will want to add some bracing on the top mount on the housing--its "going" to crack and rig off. It won't take much work and will give you more strength. I have also seen the housing rip/tear at that point with mounts done very similarly.

As for the spring being used for a mount. Keep a close eye on it as it will start to tear right at the weld due to the material the spring is made from.

Just some input to think about.
