Suggestion for Spring Packs

Zukkev (Kevin) is reworking the suspension on my YJ. We are looking for rear springs that around 52" long by 2 1/2" wide. We need the pin to be fairly centered on the pack.

Any suggestions?
 
I did some digging around and it appears that K5 and S-10 rears about the right length. Anyone know about the centered pin?
 
.... right off the top of my head i couldnt tell you the lengths but im currently running rancho 44044 wagoneer 7leafs in the frt for +2" of stretch and the rr is a bastardized cherokee setup and thats giving me +6".

I know to maintain a near to stock/semi stretched stance waggys are the way to go. I ran those frt and rr before i went to the cherokee rr's
 
How do the Cherokee rears seem to hold up, and what did you use when you bastardized 'em??? You flipped them so the long side of the leaf is facing forward I presume to gain the 6" of W.B..... I have a set of XJ's that could be used...Not out of the question, just concerned about axle wrap. Yes, an anti-wrap bar better than what's under it currently pretending to be one (No bushings, and one of the bolts sheered at the axle end, killing the current leaves, what ever they are...) is in the plans...
 
This one caught my eye in the 'leaves' PBB thread you posted, but the owner admits he's trashed several rears...

A lot of the HC leaved rigs on the PBB thread do seem to like the flipped XJ's...and a couple mention having added another main leaf to the pack to help combat wrap...that and a well thought out antiwrap...
I was thinkin' of something like the Toy rear Allpro's, or TG's....but not sure if that would be sacreligious putting yota stuff on a Heep!!!:haha:
All toy leafs seem to be 2.25" wide vs 2.5"; but again, not the end of the world as I have a metal melter!:redneck:

Toys should be 2 3/8", YJ being 2.5"

I got YJ springs on my sami, and going toy fronts for more wb .

Mazda springs are thin!!, 52" and nearly centered pin so I figured I'd mention that.
 
BTW, staying in the relm of the stock rear wheelwells is not a concern, it doesn't have any to speak of (comp cut)...
 
So what do you want? First it was a standard gm 52" rear now talking about a yota or cherocar rear?

The gm 52" springs are good but thick so it takes some reworking to make them flexy.

Yota rears are very flexy and handle abuse well but will need work to live.

Cherocar springs work but just like any spring spun long side forward you'll have to reworking it to live.

If you can go longer a 56" ferd spring will kick ass. BII/ranger springs are fantastic but will need a second cut down main leaf added to keep the main from turning into an S. A f150 main swapped onto a ranger based pack is a good setup.
 
Just looking at options, and actually sitting down/doing some research reveals some interesting stuff for sure...
I have a set of explorer springs (Seems abit to high of spring rate to start with), and a set of Xj springs here....but I'm lacking some of the other springs to rework either of these packs for longevity....
We'll see what happens in the next day or so, but I'ma start scroungin'!!! :redneck:
 
Actually yeah, just need to figure out a way to get 'em up here! Will keep you posted...:awesomework::cool:

I did this yes and i did a junkyard military wrap...

with another set of xj main leafs, I hit the bushing out of both ends, opened up the eyes on each and slid it over the original xj main i was planning on using. This works with the cherokee spring because one eye is bigger than other. The toughest part is redrilling the centerpin on the leaf I chose to military wrap.

I also took some rr leafs off of a suburban cut the eyes off the mains, used the secondarys and blended those into the pack to make some rigidity. I wrapped out a set of xj's with only the military wrap and that made me take the measuring tape to the JY and think of this great idea :flipoff:

And lastly the smallest leaf on the bottom is also an xj leaf...

I am running traction bar. Anyone doing this on a YJ IMO NEEDS A TRACTION BAR. The leafs do not react well without one and axle wrap was an issue. Im also running longer leaf perches...i think i bought from ruffstuff or DIY4x.... to help with controlling the axle wrap.

Been running this setup for 2yrs now and love it to death. And you cant beat the cost:redneck:

Thanks for the info---this was what I was reading also during my research....Thanks Man!!!:beer: Also will be building a new set of perches for this as the ones on there are NOT located correctly on the axle.... And yes, this rig will NOT leave without an antiwrap bar...:cool:
