Revive Retro

Took it for its first drive... It did ok. Tires are unbalanced and the carb seems a bit lean.

Bill came to take the rig for new wheels and he made it a block and came back---thing was now barely running..

So the fuel gauge also didn't work and bill wanted that fixed so I had him order a new sender. Well thats when I found the nasty nasty in the tank--lots of rust.

So I went ahead and had him order a new tank also.

Also the same time the cat went the carb also started to flood over so I was going to rebuild that also. Good thing because there was a load of crap inside it.

So a cross between some cat crap in the muffler and excessive fuel there was a load backfire and the muffler got opened up like a can and the cat chunks fell out. But the rig now has lots of balls and sounds like a race jeep :redneck:

So one last thing to do was bleed the brakes. I never bled the fronts since they were never touched. Well this is where things went south.. All of a sudden a ton of air and no pedal--fawk..

So ya the master **** out and had to replace it. Now the brakes work sweet...

So since Bill had left the wheels here I went ahead and dropped them off at my old work and had them mounted. They are like 3/4" offset when is what the rig needed. Now the tires don't rub the leafs on full lock and it really looks good now.

So thats it folks--this one is done.....:cheer:

Jeep turned out great. Also a good reminder of the little things that go wrong when you let a rig sit for too long.

What straps is he using for holding the jerry cans to the holders? I am trying to source some for my rig.

Thanks Harv....

There actually are no straps. Its a an assembly thats part of the tire carrier that holds them down--kinda slick..

Bill came and grabbed the jeep on saturday and drove it to the garage where its going to be stored. Made it 5ft from the garage door when the carb had an issue with the float level. Said it drove great otherwise.

:bbbball:
