Billy Brown. I recall he was part of the 4play site way back when also.

I have a "good" non rusted tub for it so thats getting done up. Has a blown axle on the front and possibly a cage and a lot of little things that I am sure I will find that need attention along the way.

When its done billy's brother will be taking it but it will basically be an old school jeep--simple and good working for trail running..

I remember when I was a kid I use to make my dad stop at every single Jeep I saw like that for sale and then I would make him hold me up so I could see in the windows and check out the "rollover bars" and big old round guages or 2 foot long shifters then I'd crawl around under it and and have no idea what I was really looking at but I'd still say "dad look, look at that, wow look at this" until he'd finally say let's go and I'd throw a fit and threaten him that I'm not going until he buys it for me then he'd remind me how many different sticks our property had for me to choose from for my woopin if I didn't go but hey I could usually get a FourWheeler magazine out of him on the way home so it was still a win being 10. But yeah those are the exact kind of Jeeps that got me into the sport and bring back good memories and I'd love to get a nice surviver like that for me and my dad to fix up for a project before he's too old and every time some little kid stops and points at one of my rigs I smile and think hopefully he's thinking the same thing I use to when I'd see Jeeps like that cruise by.

JPT,
That is exactly what I was like and want to do also.
Simple, clean & fun.

I will be watching the build for sure!:awesomework:

Yeah if you wheel and can't appreciate a classic CJ you ain't right :redneck: and with the quality of the work by Crash I'm sure it will have some cool unique work without taking from the classic look or vibe.

Exactly, I appreciate the thought & tricks via experience that Mike builds into them.
Buggies & tube rigs are cool for their capabilities but a stockish looking & capable rig will always get my vote!

I don't know how elaborate I will get with this yet as there are still a bunch of stuff up in the air so far--but I am sure it will be done to my normal standards :cheer:

Chomp chomp.

Unloading it by myself off Bills little trailer wasn't too bad. I have it on dolly's so I can still move it around.

I had to body mount bolts that didn't wanna play nice. One I buzzed a hole on the top side and drilled the bolt out of the threaded insert and the other I just beat the tub until the insert came thru the rusted tub.

Took some time but I got everything unhooked and rolled the rig out from under the tub...

Got the chassis rolled out of the shop so I can clean it up since there is a bunch of work needed on that aspect and also give the frame a good once over to make sure there are no cracks.

Got it all cleaned up and inspected the frame. I am shocked at how good of shape its in. Only damage is a couple bent body mounts on the lower edges--its in beautiful shape.

Here I had to take a double take and make sure I saw what I thought I saw. Found 1 out of 4 bolts left holding the bell housing to the tranny :eeek:.

So I will inspect the threaded portions to see if they are damaged or not and go from there. I don't see any other damage around where the 2 mate up.
