School me on Huntsville...

I hate saying it, but Hartselle has good schools and you can get all the house you want for peanuts compared to a lot of places.

New market or hazel green or gurley area I'd say. I live in the same town as broady and I could call him right now and we could load up and meet at hale at the drop of a hat. Haha

Good point state income tax...TX doesn't have one either, it would be nice to keep that scenario.
Schools probably aren't great up there in TN hills tho, I bet...

LOL........We are just a bunch of retards up here in the hills of TN. We have some good wheeling though. I heard a lot of Texans are moving east because the Mexicans coming across the border are a hell of a lot smarter than they are.

35 minutes may not seem like a lot but over an hour on the road every day will wear me down. I'm spoiled. I live 10 mins from the plants I work in now, so it's easy for me to come and go for off shift meetings or get there fast if the poo poo is hitting the circular wind machine...

Born and raised in Huntsville and still live here. Never lived anywhere else in my life. I work all over Huntsville and surrounding counties on a lot of construction and land development projects so I've seen it all. The inner city areas to stay away from are north and west Huntsville. The older 5 points area is very popular as its close to downtown scene. I live in south Huntsville and love it. Madison (suburb of Huntsville) is a great little city with top notch schools. If you want to be in the county I'd look at hazel green, new market, harvest, east limestone county, Owens cross roads, new hope, Gurley most of those are little communities in Madison county on the outskirts of Huntsville. You can also look in guntersville, union grove, Arab, Lacey's springs these are in surrounding counties. All of these communities are sitting 20min of downtown.

I would choose wisely based on location of your work and how close you want to be to it.

PM me if you have any questions or anything. Hit me up if you are looking at some land and I'll help you out on land info (surveying info, flood etc.)

Awesome input guys, I really appreciate it!
If this moves further along, I may take those that offered up on giving y'all a shout to get more info etc.

Thanks again!!

That's not saying much for us here in the East!

I'm staying downtown HSV. Digging this town for sure!!!!

Awesome places to hit:

Bridgestreet - bunch of awesome restaurants and shopping centers. Connor's Steakhouse is the bomb.com!

Drake's - upscale sportsbar, super nice place. The whole front of the place is open via huge garage doors during warmer weather. Awesome food and good beer selection.

Liqour Express - best craft beer store I've ever been to, massive selection. Think they have like 6 coolers of just singles to build 6 packs. They even have a bar in there with like 100 taps.

Pane E. Vino - a neat little Italian pizzaria with awesome food. It is located to the side on the bottom floor of the Huntsville Art Museum, right on Big Spring Park. One of my favorite places to sit outside and enjoy a good dish of chicken alfredo, a couple local craft beers on tap, and enjoy the scenery overlooking Big Spring Park.

Re:

I am guessing strictly business/no wheeling weekend. I'll take some pictures and tag you in them Saturday. It'll be "like you were there."

Thanks JD. May try to take in a few of those mañana.

Kel - yeah :-( I head out early am sat.
Please do tag me so I can live vicariously through your hot lappin Sammy that eats 34" diameter downed trees for lunch!!! :p
Might not be too long and I'll be wheeling with all you local boys!!!

Re:

Drake's is off of Airport Rd, easy to get to, relaxed atmosphere, big enough place to not be very crowded unless its late fri or sat night. I'd recommend it over the others for a quick visit. Connors food is fantastic, but a little pricey, and more of a make reservations type place. Carrying my family to Connors for Mothers Day.

Look into the Big Cove, Ryland Pike, Hurricane Creek, Big M acres, MoonTown or Dug Hill Road areas. All beautiful moutnain views within 5-20 minutes from Moores Mill Rd and 72.
