Air intakes

Stage 2 kits typically include the ducting from the turbo to the air filter housing and the top plate that covers the top of the filter

want mine? looks like I won't be using it once it's on the road. I just bought a brand new filter for it.. It's the AFE with the heat shield. and of course the color is BLUE

All i know is i'm going with the stage 2 on my truck. My Intake tubes are very restrictive and it will wake my turd up a wee bit with all the new tubes and no restrictions. :clappy:

With your truck Crash, The tube won't make any difference. oh yea, I also have another filter that can go with it, just needs to be cleaned. I'm too lazy and just buy a new one every time. Also have a filter condom to keep it nice and clean on those nasty Nachees trips towing up gravel roads.

Is there a noticeable difference with either one?
On crash's truck yea.. on the newer trucks, ehhhh not so much. Just something that ends up being needed if you start demanding more and more air.

silencer ring go bye bye and throw the intake on, you will have plenty of noise.

Silencer went away long ago--wasn't impressed :D

So thats what they want for over $100

With any cone filter you'll get lots more noise. I did a similar set up to the AFE on mine with a big filter I bought from the parts store, except I don't have the heat shield. It really sings, especially with the silencer ring out. I popped the silencer ring back in after I added the cone filter because it got a little annoying on the highway.

I didn't notice much extra seat of the pants performance, but damn it sounds good, especially with the straight pipe. :D

[EDIT]: with a cone filter you will tell the difference between silencer ring in and out... I couldn't tell a diff. with the stock airbox though, just like you said. Personally, you're a pretty creative guy... go buy a big cone filter for 40 bucks with a 4" outlet and build your own mounting bracket and heat shield for free.

After listening to my turbo for 16 hours straight to Moab and back I put my little silencer ring back in.

Listening to a turbo squeel so loud you can barely hear the stereo gets real annoying fast.

It sounded cool for driving around town

Time will tell :redneck:

What turbo did your heep come with? Jake has the exact same model and year as you and he had some funky HY35 or something other than the HX35 and it wouldn't make more than 12-15psi of boost.

I can't change the way my turbo sounds... It freakin SCREAMS, it gets annouying after a while, fun for regular running around, but long towing trips kinda sucks. When my Buddy and I nailed the throttle, he was in front of me in his Ram with a straight pipe, and I was in mine. He could hear my turbo coming up from behind him through his rear window....

Lemme know if ya want it or if you just want to make your own, I can send it Nuzzy's way. :D
