1 ton gears in Smith Buggy

Guys I'm ready to buy my r&p for my Axles was looking at 4.88.
Running sbc around 500hp/t400/3.1 Lomax 205/14 boltrear/60f.
Was a little hesitant of lower gear due to pinion size. You guys give me your input. Thanks in advance.

488 isn't terribly low. I don't think you have a problem with pinion size.

I would go 456 and have a bigger piñon gear .

no issues with my Yukon 5.38s since I've had them. 42s, 500hp lq4, th350, atlas 3.8, 60/14

guess it depends on what you want out of it and how you're using it

I run out of gearing fairly easy in low range, but it'll see 70 mph in 2nd gear in high range.

I liked my 4.88's low enough for high range and pleanty of gear in low range with a t400 and 3:1

10-4. It's gonna be a woods Buggy but want that option to kill some hills if need arises!
