I just bought this thing with a blown head gasket and i was told its rare. Its a straight body(rattle canned, not by me) tin top. Im just curious what it could be worth because i actually bought another one to beat on instead. Stock with a spring over. Any insight would be great. Thanks

You mean jl? This was the base model designation, lacking the jx options. If it's a true samurai, there is nothing rare about it. If it's early 85, and actually an sj410 (metal grill, no hump in the hood, no wide flares) and a tintop, then it's less common, but still not "rare".

I was a sami guy for alot of years (don't own any at this point) BUT.
I have never heard of an 1985 Samurai (ji or not) except one, the 1985 Super Samurai (soft top only). It is a Long wheel base only (as far as I have ever seen or read). It was a mix of left over parts from the 410 mixed with the 413.
Never seen a Stock Suzuki Samurai (or SJ410) with a SPOA set up.
The 410 has a 1.0 with a 4 spd with the 413 (Sami) has 1.3 with a 5 spd.
The 410 has the metal grille (looks like a jeep) while the sami was plastic one.

Seen a nifty little Sami or something along those lines yesturday in Parkland.. Orange truck... well.. it was a sami with a truck bed that wasnt part of the body... neat looking little go slow...:awesomework:
