It's not as tight as it looks. I'm 6' 205 so I should be ok. Don't think I'll be falling out of it though. Lol

I got it home this evening. I need to work on building a little caterpillar engine tomorrow at my other shop but honestly thinking about taking tomorrow for myself and fitting some power train.

Very good looking chassis! Some hard earned wisdom I want to share with you is leave room for a different tcase! The 300 won't make it!

There's plenty of room for an atlas which is on my expensive **** to buy list. I'd like to have a 5:1 atlas as soon as it's possible.

5:1 is really low! What gears are you planning to run in the axles? 3.73?

Right now I'm at 4.10. The axles were in my last buggy and it was sm465/203/205. I would rather gear through the case than in my axles. I try to avoid the tiny pinions. My case has the lomax 4:1 kit in it.

I wouldn't order the atlas until after you ride in it with the 4:1 break it first then put a stock 300 in it while you wait on the atlas! Just from the looks of the buggy you plan to go fast when mine had t400 3.8 and 4.88 it was all in the limiter in 3rd went to a 3:1 and it was about right IMO fwiw

Ya I plan on getting it going then seeing what the gearing needs from there. It will be a while before I can afford an atlas. The t case and a set of rcv's are the only two upgrades I have planned in the future, Other than some engine mods to add a bit of Woopow. I'm gonna have to recoup from the build itself first.

Not a whole lot to show today. Placed a few pieces of tubing to mount the seats and the radiator to. Gotta have some slugs welded to the radiator first of next week. Also gotta grab some bolts for this and that.

What part of the d300 were you breaking. I've seen the cases crack but I think the biggest thing is the output shafts breaking. For now it's what I have. Plans for an atlas or a lomax 3:1 later but unfortunately it's just not in the finances at the time. I'm gonna go together with this and see how my gearing is first and hustle for some extra cash to buy an atlas. A stock 205 is just too damn high geared unfortunately.

I had and AA HD output- its the case,, the gears are trying to push apart the whole time and the case gives-- Cracks and then strips the gears :driving: -- i was running a D300/231 popped it one good time up a climb and Kaaaaboooom!!!

Trust me man... don't get in a hurry and slap it together KNOWING you're going to go with a different case. Not with a buggy of this caliber. Take just a little more time and save the money for the case you want. It will be worth it. I've picked up used atlas's for $1800.

,, idk too much about the Stak built billet case- but like said above- the gears are not the best unless you slap some LOWMAX gears in,,, but now that you have around $800 in a new housing and $600 for gears,, $3-400 on rear output beef and another $300 for front output- you have the total around equal to an Atlas- or a 2 beefy ass Lowmax chevy 205s !!!

These guys speak the truth. I had a 4.1 big output 300. Case would break and kill gears. I have said this before but I will say it here again. If you ever decide to sell this jewel an Atlas or Hero case will help a Dana 300 will hurt. Stak isn't the best for resale either. So a higher end case is a good investment for your buggy holding up and if you ever wanted or worse needed to sell.
