Those metal ones are cheap imo. If it was me I and I could I would spend more on a wooden unit. Won't dent as easily and if you ever get tired of it drag it away from the house and a gallon of gas and your good to go.

Sounds great but a stick built one in the size I'm looking at will run me 20k vs 5k for a metal one. My neighbor has one that he's had for about 10 years and it still looks good. If it has dents in the roof I can't see them and we've had plenty of hail the past few years. Sure I'd rather have a block or wood building but it's not in the budget and I'm guessing that's the case for most looking at these.

Good thinking but those are a bit smaller than what I'm looking for. Maybe get a couple and put them together.

My shop started out as one of the cheap 12x20 carports about 20 years ago.
5 years later it got a 10x20 slab poured to each side & the shed sides & end walls are stick built.

Its not how I would've done it but since it came with the house when I bought it, I'm sure not going to start over. So far I've redone all the wiring, added a layer of insulation & finished the interior walls with OSB & pegboard.

Ive been thinking I'd like to have one big enough to put my tractor and my old truck under. But I will probably just get a couple buddies to help me build a simple pole barn and throw some tin on the roof.

If you want to go the pole barn route, we put this one up about 3 years ago. 36x36. 6x6's set every 12 ft on the eave sides.
The steel trusses have brackets welded in for 2x6s on edge for the roof.

I had mine installed last year and love it. 18X26 with 10 ft eves. Had mine done as a carport with the front and rear eve finished. Then purchased metal that was the pre painted to match the building. (think it was from Daus building supply) Then my dad and I installed the siding, cut 4 windows into it, and a garage door. Saved about $1500 doing it this way
