Everyone is just a little whiney ***** if he wants to have a beer on the trail in 5 feet of snow then let him. Its his responsabilty. not yours. whats he gunna do when hes got both cases in low ? hit a tree at .5 mph ? They are all above the leagly drinking and friends of mine. Most of you have at one point in time had a beer or 2 on the trail or hit the trail early in the morning still drunk from the night before. Is that any better? hell im drunk right now. and im thinkin about goin wheelin just to piss off all you cry babies :fawkdancesmiley: :Acheers: :stirpot: :stirpot:

How many of the wheeling videos have you watched that have drinkin in them? maybe you should contact all the guys on the pirate videos and all the really good videos and tell them they are setting a bad example for the rest of us ? get on Pirate and rant about this too. make it a national thing instead of just a Nw thing

If you are defending drinking and driving you need AA meetings or electric shock theorpy.

Dixie, how did your friends get to the trail that they were driving5 mph on? i think on a public road, orange juice? what about the beer can he was holding in some of the other pictures?
1) it is illegal period.
2) dosent matter what other perople have done in the past
3) the pictures were on this board
4) and yes, i dont only speak out about
trail drinking & driving here but when ever i see it.

somepeople say if you choose to drink on the trail you need to be ready to take responsability for your actions. well that all fine & well but how does that help the other people you may have hurt in the process.
 
The problem of drinking on the trail really is a small part in the big picture. How many times have you driven past people who had a beer in there hand and many more with them? How many of those folks were there for a "DAY" trip--probably alot. The big problem is when the rig is loaded and on the road--just ask somebody who recently lost there significant other. On the trail is not good but really a small part in the big problem....

Legal or illegal its a bad idea. If it were legal would i do it again. Hell no. Its way too risky and like many others i learned my lesson the hard way.

You're retarded if you think it's OK. Whether it's one beer, two beers or a six pack, it's still alcohol and it impairs your judgment.

Just read about the guys who have been there, they all said never again because of an injury/wrecked vehicle.................

So let's review. It was illegal, but you did it anyway. You fawked up and it cost you lots of money and such. Now you don't do it anymore, and you say you wouldn't even if it was legal.

Yep, good thing there's a law, it sure did save the day.

And your going to tell me you've never done anything illegal:rolleyes: Im sure you have, we all have. In doing an illegal act have you ever had to pay the price? Did it change your mind about doing it again. Wether its a speeding ticket or a wreck same **** just different scale of intensity. Continuing to do it afterwards is just plain stupid. Laws are there to tell people not to do things and if they do commit the illegal act they are punished so they learn not to do it again. Most people learn some dont.

Yes I've paid the price. In some cases the outcome changed my mind about doing it again, and in others no.

Continuing to do something after having it bite you is not "just plain stupid", it's a matter of choice and a personal testimate of the relationship between cause and effect.

If I get caught stealing from a clothing store and pay a fine and get something on my record, I have now learned what an effect can be of my actions. Now I have the knowledge to learn from that scenario... I may never steal again OR I may decided the reward may be worth the risk of getting caught and do it again. It's a personal risk/reward situation that is specific to me.

Very true. Then you also get into personal morals. Being caught helps people ot see what they were doing is not moraly right in their own mind even though it might have been at the time of the action. Each action has its own personal risk/reward. In this case the reward is far from meeting the personal risk and risk to others. I took the risk, i payed the price, i now think twice. Learning from your own mistakes is a great way to better yourself, but it can cost you along the way.

I never implied any such thing. Learn to read.

Yeah... Double learn to read. You just got done telling us how the DUI law had NO bearing on your behavior, while in the same breath telling us how useful and fabulous the DUI law is.

say you get caught stealing clothes and your company (as many now do) has an ethics clause in their employee statement.
you get caught, loose your job & now you, your wife, your kids suffer.
and we all know the effect DWI's have on families let alone an accident while on drugs or alcohol.

I completely disagree with getting DRUNK and driving anywhere... road, trail, etc... however, I have no problem with anyone taking a break and having a beer or 2 over the course of the day...

One thing is certain, you can *****, moan, complain, preach, etc... on here all you want about other peoples behavior... :beatdeadhorse:

People are still gonna do whatever they want whether or not everyone likes it.

Right. All of our actions have an effect on others. Just some are more detrimental than others. Each individual has their own sliding scale of what they are and aren't ok with taking their chances on.

Sadly things sometimes end in tragedy (as we know personally here on the board).

Go back a re-read what i wrote and quote where i say the DUI law is fabulous. Learn to read. I was stating why laws like the DUI law are enacted. I never said the DUI law in itself is a great law. Infact i think its horrible because the consequences of a vehicular homicide involving a DUI are usually pretty lax. Whats with people getting 7 DUI's and still being able to drive? Its a good start but not very proactive. Many laws do curb my behaviour so i dont disobeye them. While impared you judgment is also impared...hence impared. People make mistakes while intoxicated and usually pay the price. I did not receive a DUI so the law NEVER affected me but the consequence of drinking and driving affected me much more than any DUI ticket will. It curbed my behaviour so that i basically stopped drinking all together soas to not be put in similar situations where impared judgment gets the best of me. People with multiple DUI's need alcohol counseling and control, and again this is where the law fails. The might go to an AA meeting or two but can they still buy alcohol. You bet. Dont put words in my mouth again k thanks bye.:looser:

Agreed 100%. The road is far more of a liability than putting along the trail.



Now why do we allow bars to stay in business. We all know full well the majority of bar patrons drive themselves there and will drive themselves home on the roads. If we're having a no tolerance policy for people drinking an getting behind the wheel, why don't we take away our rights to open/operate/and visit bars?

Just a food for though...
