Ok so i have a 12v air compressor the specs are 3/4hp 4cfm and the psi switch is for 145psi.

im looking to wire it up whats the best way. thanks for your in put.

i would say go through your fuse box, it is the best source of power without having to wire directly to your battery (that **** is for newbs:masturbanana[1]:) then use an appropriate fuse in the box for it.

If it doesn't have a power switch I would use a constant duty solenoid. They look just like a ford start solenoid but are made to be energized longer. Napa usually has them in stock. "Do not use fuse box!" Way too high of amperage. I would wire it: Batt.... fusable link..... solenoid..... comp...... and put a switch on the dash to turn the solenoid on or off.

Battery -> fuse -> solenoid -> relay -> switch

Use the relay to switch either the hot or ground side but this way you don't have to run the high current wire through the cab to the switch.

Lots of ways to do it, that's just my opinion.

Fixed it
