Another scary and dumb cruise revelation:
Ever since 9/11 Homeland Security COMPLETELY controls all international shipping ports. I didn't realize exactly to what extent this was the case until I had to get into one to board my cruise ship. I had to show ID, passport, etc at the gate to get in and once I got back from the cruise the ship was completely under Homeland Security's authority. Royal Caribean claimed they have to temporarily turn over ownership of the ship to Homeland until Homeland is done with them and everyone is off the ship. Virtually ALL of the nations imports and exports go through these ports which means the government now has complete control over ALL international trade and has armed guards on premises.
A couple weeks ago I found a new steel supplier who happened to be located on a port. But they can no longer sell to the public because Homeland won't let the public onto port to pick up the steel. They can send an employee out to the gate to escort larger orders onto port to pick up their steel but they can't afford to send someone out for smaller orders. They say they lost about 25% of their sales when Homeland took over.
YET, while I was at port I noticed that on the yards there were THOUSANDS of containers in storage. Thousands of containers arrive in the US every day and less than 10% of them are ever checked for illegal contents. Those containers are huge. A terrorist could EASILY fit say ... oh a NUCLEAR BOMB in one with space to spare and they could literally just UPS it over with less than 10% chance of failiure. I think those are pretty damn good odds!
So yeah, I beleive our government when they say that they are trying to protect us yet allow thousands of containers to go uninspected, literally in front of their noses, while they sit on their ass with their automatic weapons in hand checking American ID's.
Not that this is not an anti-Obama rant. Homeland took over under Bush.
