For $42 I went ahead and did them. They've held with 39" Reds full of water for a couple years, although the steering arms is tied into the knuckle. I baked the knuckles at 400* and welded them with a mig. Then I buried them in a bucket full of sand for the evening. If you're gonna stay stock knuckles, it's only $42.

Anyone had to plate the balljoint knuckles? Either SD or earlier?

I've only ever heard of the pre-superduty knuckles breaking and even then it's not common. The factory knuckles and c's seem to be much beefier than the kingpin stuff.

Yup, upper balljoints are weak, not the knuckles and C's. Also steering on top of the knuckle on a 92-97 BJ knuckle is same height as bottom of KP HS arm
