License plate lights

Not very hardcore...but a necessary evil on DD's. I have my license plate mounted on the tailgate and was using bolts with leds in them from Summit but the output wasn't very good and they both burned out after about 3 months. Any ideas to get this sucker lit up better?

Six Robblees has a nice selection of lights for that purpose.

I'm using a license plate frame that has a light on it. It comes chrome, but I painted it black. It also has a brake light.

Where'd you get it at? The only one's I'm finding are fancy billet ones for show cars and are $50+

pull a part. The isuzu troopers have a license plate cover and light. Also check the suzuki sidekicks and geo trackers. I have sold some of those to samurai owners for the tailgate.
