short bed standard cab = half ton = not a tow rig unless you are talking about quads or something.
If you answered "Well I can do 60 up a hill with my short bed" you're an idiot.. That has nothing to do with why we bring up the wheelbase.
I agree with zukkev. Gotta be a long bed, after that it's just what you have the money for.
And whoever said you can't tell the difference between an F150 and an F450.. Jump back in the honda and just go from point A to point B and forget everything else. I'd like to hear what a "heavy boat" is.
While I prefer a long bed for the additional room, for towing it's not so much bed length as it is wheelbase. You can't really say that a single cab pickup truck with an 8 foot bed tows any better than a Quad or Super Cab, Crew Cab, or Mega Cab pickup truck with a 6.5 foot bed. Also, few would dispute that 3/4 ton Suburbans and Excusrions tow well and they have no bed at all.
heavy boat 8230lbs. wa have towed it to banks lake with the f150 and the f450. its all in how fast you wanna get there.
