Coolness, I will get you something when I start fawking with it. Probably end of the month. Also, can you turn down 8-1/2" spacers for me by 1/16"? I know a grinder will work, but I wanna make sure it is exact since they are for heim misalignment.

Hit neal up if you need something milled. He may can help you out.

Will not work, already looked. I am going air bumps. Neal is awesome, he already knows this though.

I am diggin the ride height and more oil in the shocks. Drove it to gray rock and it was FUN on the road It has some lean in the corners, but not bad at all. Very nice ride and feel. The rear did not settle out as much as I wanted so I dropped it an inch or so tonight. I am going to try it out this weekend. Looking fwd to getting this think dialed in for KOH.

Picking up AL links and tie rod at Jellico, going with 7/8" heims on the lowers so that will be some piece of mind. Spent 30 minutes on the phone with Jason at S&N today. He is a GREAT guy. He has told me what they have "warrantied" on the old cars since mine is #2. He is going to send me some parts and pieces that need to be swapped out due to failures in other cars. Gave me some great ideas and sent a bunch of nice pics. I am very glad I own a rig built by a good and helpful bunch of folks

Yeah they have made a couple of retrofits to the cars over the years and they tell out the customers to come back for retrofits. Things like swapping poly tranny mount bushings to skid plate material, adding rear crossmember support, etc. Nothing major, just things they have had trouble with. Nice warranty system!

No Co-Pay no foul thumb.gif That **** smarted.... laughing1

Branik does some beautiful machine work , if I had to pick any solid Aluminum rod to get smacked in the head with , that would certainly be it ! thumb.gif

Re: Matt O's S&N Fab Buggy Updates & KOH Prep/Rebuild

So P and I are getting ready for KOH in February and the first on the list was a new set of links. Most of these items are just general upgrades/maintenance that would be needed at some point, but KOH has sped up the process. I don't plan to change much on the rig, just some good quality upgrades that it is lacking since it was built 5 years ago. Several teams are building new cars for the event, but we are going to focus on fine tuning and seat time! ;)

I would like to thank Jimmy at Essentially Offroad in TN. He has agreed to help me out with a suspension overhaul and some general fab work. My goal is to run a few XRRA races as well next year, so I will give EOR as much exposure as I can. The rig is headed to TN this weekend for Jimmy to setup my new suspension which consists of Bilstein Rockcrawler Coilovers with Remote Resevoirs at all 4 corners and a set of Bilstein Air Bumps up front. EOR is going to fine tune the spring rates and custom valve the shocks based on what I am trying to do with the rig. I feel that this setup will help my rig a ton! Jimmy is a master at building custom suspensions, so his experience is going to help our chances in the LCQ. The air shocks I have now work great for low speed crawling but the ride is a bit rough at speed, I think the new shocks will fix that! Thanks again EOR!

I also want to thank Stan at Branik Motorsports for hooking me up on a set of aluminum links. They bring the bling after a little polishing! Stan and the guys at Branik are top notch and are putting out some of the coolest products in the industry. I hear they will be making their own 300m shafts early next year!

Lowers are 1.75" 7075 AL
Uppers/Tie Rod are 1.5" 7075 AL
Also upgraded to 7/8 x 3/4 Heims on the lowers for some piece of mind.
On with some pics:

Re: Matt O's S&N Fab Buggy Updates & KOH Prep/Rebuild

Looks good Matt, you will be rockbouncing in know time.

Re: Matt O's S&N Fab Buggy Updates & KOH Prep/Rebuild

Looks sick Matt....pimp house too.

Re: Matt O's S&N Fab Buggy Updates & KOH Prep/Rebuild

Those links are so bling.... man they are nice drool The machine work is super clean, the "brand" in them is nice, the ends have " L " in them to note the left hand threaded side, just nicely done and the detail was great, no need to clean and sexy up threads , they are right and clean smooth like buuuutah ! thumb.gif

Cant wait to get some time in this thing with Matt after it gets back with the EOR suspension under it, I think its going to make a HUGE difference in the ride. Its not bad, but its not the most comfortable thing and it certainly isnt setup currently for the kind of higher speed beatings that KOH is going to throw at us.

Lovin it man, cant wait to get out west and throw down :afro:

Re: Matt O's S&N Fab Buggy Updates & KOH Prep/Rebuild

Yeah P is right, the links are top notch. Branik is QUALITY! Also thanks to P for his help last night and in the future. After it gets back from Jimmy I have a few rides planned in Oct. The list of upgrades looks like this:

New Skins (Pre-Painted AL)
Paint Hood, Grill and Cowl (Thanks to Joe at LJC!!!)
Finish cleaning up the WE Wheels (I have done the front Driver's side so far)
Pull all the interior and panels to heat line them all and get to the atlas and tranny for some maintenance
Mess around with the cooling system to get it running cooler
Maintain the axles, driveshafts, motor, etc.
Figure out Pass Side grab handle setup and some other misc stuff
Window Nets are gonna be tough

I am sure some other stuff will come up

Re: Matt O's S&N Fab Buggy Updates & KOH Prep/Rebuild

I think after that cap I pointed out last night, it would be wise to do ujoints through the driveshafts... Just my .02

The wheel bearings need to be looked at but we will do that the week prior to trailer time, replace them if needed, but go ahead and get through all the rough housing we can put on it prior to trailer week. ( thats what Im going to call that week prior... since it doesnt need to ride anything but the trailer so we dont do something stupid last minute.. LOL )

I dont wanna be a hater, but that electric water pump makes me nervous as ****.... mainly because I have no real world experience with them, but also because its my perception that those are designed for short racing applications. Ill research some more and also find out what model is on your engine so we can be "in the know" about all that mess. I honestly think while in Cali we just straight pull the thermostat out... just my .02 I agree with what we discussed last night about airflow through said radiator, several ways to attack that issue so we can get deeper into that as well.

We will get her there , no doubt about that. thumb.gif

Re: Matt O's S&N Fab Buggy Updates & KOH Prep/Rebuild

Another trick would be to run straight water in the cooling system without the thermostat just for the race (as long as its hot out there, I guees it is :dunno:) It will cool better and its a free mod, when you get back fill back with coolant. Also one of those Raytek laser thermometers can be had on ebay for less than 40 bucks and that why you can try different things and see if the motor/rafiator are cooler than before.

Re: Matt O's S&N Fab Buggy Updates & KOH Prep/Rebuild

the buggy looks good let me know if you need any help

Re: Matt O's S&N Fab Buggy Updates & KOH Prep/Rebuild

i think it runs cooler with some antifreeze

Re: Matt O's S&N Fab Buggy Updates & KOH Prep/Rebuild

I have always heard water cools better, anti freeze is simply for freezing temps and to keep **** from rusting.
