I'm mostly on here to watch everyone's builds and read your crazy ass "general discussions."
I mostly wheel in Indiana (Attica Badlands and Haspin Acres). I try to make it down south (DTOR, Windrock, Harlan) at least once a year.
Here's my rig: If you see me on the trail say Hi.

Been lurking for a few months, figure I ought to intro myself. I'm a Florida wheeler (NE/Jax) so that means I only wheel a few times a year which also means I have a slow learning curve. None the less, if time/money allowed I'd be in the rocks lots more but 7+ hour drives just to wheel makes it a bit challenging.

Currently have a 2001 TJ with only minor modifications. RK longs w/ the triangulated rear, 35 KM2s, Detroit in D44 rear, lock rite in D30 front, 4.56, JBC shorty on the OEM tc, full length skids, no problem bashing on it but sick of breaking stuff. Other minor comfort mods but nothing else worth mentioning. It's tough to justify tons and bigger upgrades when in FL but it still sees days at the beach with wifey and the pup. Drive it to and from wheeling so it needs to stay reliable too. I'm always surprised though at what we get through for what it is. Have some top end issues with the 4.0 so I've started thinking stroker but that's probably just a pipe dream right now. Bank account and need will determine that one.

My alter ego is an over-worked corporate type trying to make his way. Spent a few years helping to lead an expanding Jeep club (Matanzas Jeep Club) into a real-deal non-profit Florida charity organization focused on wounded veterans and have since passed it off so I can focus on my family and career (and actually wheeling instead of running events). It's still the largest in FL that I'm aware of and growing. Kinda proud that I had an opportunity to participate while I could. Great group of Jeepers.

I know a few of you guys on here from FL so don't hold that against me. Big thanks to Mike B. and Zack for turning me on to Hardline and to Lil Ugly for helping root the desire to wheel a few years back. I've learned a lot and hope to keep learning more.

New member here. Been lurking on NC4x4 for some time and kept reading about Hardline and decided to check it out. I've been wheeling for almost 20 years in everything from a stock CJ5 to a JK on 37's when they came out in 2007. I now have a 87 YJ 350TBI/700r4/ 231 w/ SYE sitting on waggy 44's 5.13 with spools. Currently I'm running 36 Irocks but I am going to 38's. The Jeep takes the backburner thanks to the lake life and a 3y/o. I'm in the Army and I'm stationed at Ft. Bragg. I currently wheel at Uwharrie but this year I'm going to travel more. Here are the only pics of my junk.

Just registered after reading some very informative information from the site. I have a major project which I started today on my recently acquired 1984 Toyota 4 Runner. It is rough as hell and I'm in the process of attempting to bring it back to life. I've encountered many challenges so far and need some advice from fellow members.

The specs on the 1984 4 Runner SR5 is as follows: Wore out 22r (from unknow vehicle) possibly rebuilt?!? Solid axles were stock until I purchased what I thought were 4.88 gears. I really could not tell a difference in the stock gears and the "4.88's" With 31x10.5 tires, I thought there would be a major difference. Conflicting search results on how to find out what the gear ratio is already installed has me a little baffled.

Anyway, after new weber carb, water pump, alternator, radiator, heater core, and other misc electrical/lighting, and interior adds I now have oil in my coolant and vice versa.

My question is: Do I rebuild the existing 22r or do I order a rebuilt one. After research, I find conflicting views on all rebuild companies. The Oregon remanufactured engine looked good and priced in my range, then I read negative reviews. However there are more positive than negative.

I removed the motor today so now it sits on a stand awaiting my decision. I have a badass mechanic helping me so I'm kinda leaning towards rebuilding what I have considering I know who is doing the work and will be helping.

ANY ADVICE IS MUCH APPRECIATED.

p.s. I have researched the engine topic and can't make an decision.

Howdy Folks,

I actually found this place looking for info on rebuilding an engine to be used with propane for a friend's truggy. I liked the site enough that I figured I'd join up & share info when/if I can as well.

As far as my buggy is concerned, I traded a buddy from work my old 94 Jeep YJ for it so I didn't build it originally, he did. I do plan to make quite a few modifications cosmetically though. It started life as a '88 Suzuki Sammy, but now it's just a very capable ugly buggy.

Parts list:

Dana 44 Waggy Axles with Chromoly Shafts, 4.88 gears, & ARB Lockers
Ford 2.9L Fuel Injected V-6 out of a Ford Rannger
5 Speed Manual Trans out of a Ford Ranger
Divorced Sammy T-Case
40" IROKS on Steel Beadlock Rims

Newbie here and some have already seen my rig but here is a little more. 81 Pinto, 460/C6/205, 200hp nitrous, 10inch 3500 TCI Nitrous converter, HP60 frt, 14 Bolt rear, 4.10s, 39.5 Tsls frt, 39.5 Boggers rear, 1 links frt and rear with coils. Probably won't make any races this year but trying to finish it as soon as possible. I build my rigs as cheap as I can cause I just don't have 20-30k to spend on something to go thrash on. That being said the cage is built out of 1 1/4 SCH40 pipe and the frame rails are 2x3 1/4 wall rectangle tubing.
This is what I started with.

This is where it was as of 2 weeks ago.

I have been out of wheeling for a few years now, I blew the engine in my 91 4Runner right before getting out of the USMC and relocating to Ga (Atlanta area). I found the Hardline site while researching engine swaps and followed someones build tread to hardline. You guys have some awesome looking rigs and I look forward to getting my 4Runner back going and hitting some trails with you guys. I have almost everything I need for my 4.3L swap and hope to have in going sometime this spring.

My 4Runner is SAS'd with a 84 Toyota front axle, 63" Chevy springs in the rear and rear Toyota springs up front, 5.29 gears with a ARB in the front and Detroit out back, Longfield axles/hub gears, Inchworm/Marlin dual t-cases 2.28-4.7 gearing, 36" Goodyear Military OZ/s mounted recentered humvee double beadlocks, and a warn 9.5ti with.

My wife's 4wd project is a 1982 Mercedes 280GE (G-Wagon). It's all stock with factory hydraulic diff locks front/rear and skinny 215/85R16's but will soon be wearing some 235/85R16 Iroc ND's. It's slow as hell and for a stock 4wd is very capable. This isn't the luxury G500 that most people think of when you say I have a "G Wagon". My goal for it is be a expedition style 4wd for weekend family camping trips and light wheeling.
