What makes a "controlled bypass"? Who is going to control it? What happens when this controlled bypass is too difficult for a group and they want yet another bypass?

Thas why you have work parties to manage/maintain a trail..

You can just build something and walk away and think it will hold up....

All of the major trails in the area have been bypassed. You hear of places like Elbe, the busywild of all trails has bypasses galore, but most of the folks that ask me where to go at elbe know to stay away from the busy.

For a DNR sponsored area, there are going to be bypasses. Look at the little rock garden thingy the tamers made on the sunrise. The bypass turned out harder than the original line cause it got torn up so bad.

A rating system would be a good thing, but no matter what you do, there will still be retards that get in over thier head, and need to get out when thier balls are close to the bandsaw.
