SLORV - February 17-19, 2012 - First Annual Gorilla Run

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kermit Turner and i love this forum !I have picked up on quit a few things just by reading the build threads and general post on here.I live in Missouri and have been into wheeling all my life. I have built a few rigs ,the last one a good friend and i spent seven in a half months building. If i wasnt at work i was in the garage working to complete the project. I see what Tim Cameron is building and the pride he takes in his work . He is also willing to go the unbeaten path to try something new . This is what takes our sport/hobby to the next level. I have alot of respect for Tim Cameron. He spends countless hours in the shop just like the rest of us.So i dont care if he has money or not ,fact is he builds his rigs!So nobody should be running their mouth about the man !

Yall should of heard the garbage that was yelled out at these drivers as they were coming to the top of the hill in the competition.(mostly from one group)
That's disappointing. Care to elaborate?

Trash talking is always hilarious. The heavy language and dirty mouths that came with it was extreme. These folks had there own kids with them too. Like I said before, competition is healthy. I'm not the only person on the top of that comp hill who got fed up with them. You always have a few bad apples in every crowd!

I ran video on those idiots for awhile to put them on blast on YouTube but had to delete it later because i was running out of memory recording the event. I would like to thank all who competed and did so at their own expense to put on a show for us. 99.9% of those who were there really enjoyed it and appreciated it, those .1% really have no idea how stupid they look to everyone else.

Not sure which one's you are talking about, but after my run I came up to our tent and sat under it for a while. There were a group of guys over there that were obviously very drunk acting like idiots. I assume those are the folks you all are talking about. It made watching the comp hard because all you could hear was them yelling and cussing. It was not what I wanted my 6 year old son to see and hear.

Wanted to send out some big THANKS just been busy and tired, had to come back to work to rest, first to Rick for all he put into making this event happen, Gary Wainwright, Brian Belcher , Billy Mountjoy, Arkansas Crawlers, Superlift and then there is
Ty Turner who had the foresight to see that the Bounty hill would be such a great show, and I WOULD NOT have pulled up on that hill for 15,000 prize I don't have the guts no matter what price rig I drive. My heart was racing enough watching them on the hill Thanks to the friends I have made in TN, AL, LA, for coming out to put on a show. As for the race I have watched the videos all I can say is i'm glad I ran 10th and not 35 thru 40th the top got very bad. Randal if I knew you broke up there I would have came to help, glad rick was there.

Thanks again to all.

I'm pretty sure my run was one in???? When I got to the top there was no ribbon or cone.
I went the fastest route I saw. Sorry if I have done something wrong. I'm not a cheater and don't care to be labeled as one.

I never labeled you as a cheater. You took the fastest line because they did not have the cone and tape in the correct spot. I witnessed some others actually knock the cone down and break the tape. When they could not make the correct line they went the bypass which was technically out of bounds. I can tell you if I had come up through there on my run and the line you took was open I would have gone that way too. There are some other things I have messaged Gary about that I do not think was quite right with this comp.

I ran 32ish and went all the way to the top without stopping or going out of bounds. When I pulled cable I was told I had one of the fastest times but couldn't get over the last ledge. I saw the line to the right after about the 4th time I hit the ledge but wasn't gonna run the cone over. I din't realize that many people took that line cause I was standing at the very bottom watching. I wasn't ttryin to kill my buggy and I prolly could have jumped the ledge but if I would have known I could go that far out I woulda spanked it. I had a blast and am not upset or anything but I winched cause I didn't wanna destroy the cones and tape that I was told to stay out of!
