I've got an aquaintance asking me about installing a softtop on a hardtopped TJ. I've got a TJ with a hardtop but it's never been off. What has this guy gotta do to install a softtop? Are all the rails there from the factory just like a softtop model? I told him I thought all he'd have to do is install the windshield header and maybe a rail on the tailgate. Anyone know?

I think the rails are the same from hard to soft top. He will need a soft top and the hardware including the tailgate/rear window bar. That should be about it I think

And door surrounds, I don't think hardtop rigs had 'em.

That's what I told him....I was just hoping I was right. It's a friend of a friend and they were looking for someone to do the install. I told them I didn't have time but that there wasn't much of an install to it.

He will also need the hardware that bolts to the B-pillar for the soft top bows....
