used spring check W/ measuring tape

Any body know how to spot a 5 in lift spring , comared to a 3 in. what if theyr on the ground can i use a measuring tape?:beer:

Oh, I get it, you saw me here last night---I couldn't see straight anymore...Need more info, like what are you working with for vehicle etc...
But the bottom line is, unless there's a part# you can chase down, there's no real way to check between the two, other than measuring before install, install, then measure after install; but the 5" should be significantly more arched--bare in mind I've seen 5" variants of springs be sagged out so much, they end up a looking like a 3" spring!!!:redneck:
