Punta Cana Vacation Excursions?

My girlfriend and I went to Riu Palace Punta Cana, in August. It was $1236 per person, for 7 days, all inclusive, and included the plane tickets. We stayed at the resort mostly, but we did two different days of excursions. One day was rzr riding, snorkeling, kayaking, etc. The other day was a relaxing day, they took you out in the middle of the ocean for massages, food, etc. This was all booked in the lobby of the hotel. Both days were around $560 for me and her. It is fairly safe outside of the resort, when you book a excursion. They pick you up from the hotel and take you back. They only thing I would do different is stay at the Riu Palace Punta Cana "Adults only". There were kids running around everywhere and the pool and bars at ours shutdown early. They also told us their peak season is Nov-Feb. Hope that helps...

Thought I would update this thread.

We went to Majestic Elegance and stayed 10 days over the Thanksgiving holiday. The place was pretty nice. Drinks were a plenty and good. Food was OK. Found something every day I liked just took some experimenting as their culture is much different than the south.

We did the Just Safari Jeep tour. It was great. I highly recommend it. Got to see what every day life is like in that country. I will post some pictures to follow up. This was probably the favorite thing we did other than gamble and get wasted every night.

We were between Punta Cana and Playa Del Carmen. Ended up going to Playa over Dec 1-5. Good time, toured a mayan city of ruins called Chichen Itza, which is badass, swam in a deep ass huge ass cenote, took a jeep tour of cozumel, drank a bunch and swam in the pool. Food was good, we did all inclusive adults only out of town a ways.

The beach looks cleaner than I've ever seen it. I really hope the sea weed is dying get down and clearing up. We're taking our second cruise on the 15th, and the first stop is Cozumel. So far we haven't found much there worth getting off the ship for, other than the supermarket. Interested in the jeep safari info, as it looks like it could be fun.

The resort we stayed at ran a tractor down the beach every morning and took care of the sea weed. The Jeep safari was the best thing we did the entire time. Justsafari.com I think is the site. Also, it was very affordable. About $100 each and it lasts about 8 hrs.

Going to the Breathless Resort in Punta Cana this Thursday for a 10 day stay. Any Advice? Recommendations on excursions?

Recently read an article about people being alcohol poisoned at resorts in the Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel area. They said the Iberostar, Secrets and Grand Oasis resorts were some on the list. People having a few drinks and waking up in the hospital possibly being raped and robbed. Just keep an eye out while you're there.

That doesn't surprise me at all. The wife and I got roofied in the Bahamas. Luckily we hadn't finished our drinks and we hauled as back onto the cruise ship(all 2-300 yards). Made it to our room and were out like a light for about 4 hours.

Yeah in MX I only drink bottle or can beer, and only accept it if I see them open it and hear it crack.

Side story:
Me and a friend got inadvertently roofied at a bar one night on dollar beer night, when a bunch of frat boys brought a tray of beers out to a table of girls we were sitting beside. They only wanted to order mixed drinks so they gave the 6-10oz beers to us... I'd already had 2 that I'd ordered myself, my tab was only $2. So I had 5-10oz beers total and woke up in the back of my Bronco at 4am completely hung over like I had pounded a 5th of whiskey, my buddy was laying on the ground in front of the Bronco, same condition. :dunno:

You backed over your friend with a bronco in Mexico while taking roofies with some frat guys?!?!

Damn. Some friend you are.

^ the **** you don't want to hear before a trip. No, I appreciate the info. Clearly, I need to stay aware of my surroundings.

The wife and I bought a drink from some little tiki bar that was in the market just off the boat. I stood there and watched him make it. My only guess is the whole bottle of liquor was laced. I always take a couple sips of my drink and give it a few minutes to see what happens now.

You'll probably be fine.....probably.
