Bit the bullet and got a smitty xrc 9.5k Gen2 on the way. Best price I could find was at 4wheel online. 269.99. Should have it by Friday. Thanks for the input Maybe I can pull you guys out with it one day :flipper:

Yep to the door. That is is cable instead of rope, but for that price I couldn't pass it up. If you call ask for Jordan he's the sales rep I talked to. Tell him Brian said to ask for him.

I put an XRC8 Comp winch on my Samurai probably 6 years ago. It has worked great. The only problem with it was it was extremely difficult to pull the line out in free spool mode, which really sucks when you are trying to climb a steep hill on foot while pulling the line out. I ended up dissassembling the gears, and cleaning all of the factory 'very sticky' grease out, then reassembling with normal grease. Free spooling the line was MUCH easier after doing that. The sticky factory grease was nuts! I bought it from 4wheelonline. They had the best price at the time with free shipping.
