Mounted Front Shocks

Hope this is right...had no way to flex the Jeep to check for compression and droop....

Used some old shock mounts cut off a toyota.

the shocks have 12 inches of travel....5.5up and 7.5 down...if it doesn't work i'll just have to cut the mounts off and try again.

Got the highlift mounted, used cotter pin bolt with multiple settings and a bushing on the back side to keep from rattleing.

Got the tool box mounted, robbed from my cargo trailer, figured it would be more usefull in the Jeep.

Got the axle breather hoses on, used 3/8I.D.9/16O.D. vinyl hose, rated at 175degrees....clear so I can see if anything nasty gets in there.

Also, got the draglink adjusted so my turning is even both directions and so my steering wheel is straight.

and....got the tranny lines mounted in 2 places to keep from catching on anything and to keep from rubbing on anything bad....

LETS WHEEL!

The comanche leafs in the rear flex out pretty nice, huh? Aaron's is like that too. I dig.

Too bad I wanted to ride shotgun a bit today at Liberty, oh well next time.

check out the liberty shake down on trail chatter....more pics on there of my body damage....and broken shock.

tune in the next few weeks for.....

underdrive pulley of the power steering pump.....cooler....electric fan(s).

hydro assist and some body protection!

oh yeah...despite on how shitty the BIG O BIG FOOT'S are and how bald they are.....they actually did pretty good!

traded a buddy across for some 35.5 swampers on a 16 in wheel because mine were 16.5's and I couldn't air down enough because I was afraid I would break a bead. Plus they are narrower and the MJ will fit better on the trailer....as far as tread, that are pretty worn but the whole swap is better for me.

Who cares they are swampers with side lugs. Buy or borrow a tire knife and make some more tread haha. It looks alot better with the new wheels. Very cool build youve done.

That was my thoughts exactly! Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it, alot of work in a short period of time....now I need a cage and some protection.

Jeff's wife told him that after he gets his Toyota he has in the driveway fixed, and gets the situation with his tow rig fixed, he can't work on anything truck related for a month! :redneck: :haha:

Finally fixed the shock and the tail light and pounded on the sheet metal abit, looks pretty darn good for the pain she endured...

So I got misstackin for you yesterday up at naches so I thought I would find your build thread and check it out... One question why did you take coils out and put leafs in I just don't understand why people do it?
But looks good and seams to flex well. Mine started the same as yours 2wd stick that I converted to 4wd and auto. Here are some pics of mine.

I :heartpump: Comanches.

Jeff put leaf springs under the front because they're cheaper and easier to fab up than coils and longarms or a 4-link setup. No track bar, no coils to buy... think 200 bucks or so on some brand new BDS 2" YJ springs, stock wrangler shackles that were laying around, some 75 bucks or so in steel and brackets, and a few other odds and ends and you've got a front suspension.

It rides really nice and flexes good.

I had the Clayton kit on my old XJ, and my brother has the same setup now on his MJ, and it's really nice and flexes good too, but too much money for this build.

pretty much nailed it....

money money money

simplicity simplicity simplicity

Flexes good, rides good, and was way easier with the full size axle swap..

"I love when people put leaf springs on the front of xj's, its like wearing a mohawk to church!"

I like your Jeep though....ya our rigs are similar looking, I would see how people would mix that up.

Another reason its good with the leafs is that it was really easy to move my axle forward, I still haven't cut into my fenders, but its coming.
