• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

My Bus,,, My Bus,,, My Bus...

OK, so here's where I'm at...

The lighting system is nuts on this... Everything is tied together threw an emergency type system, kinda like you'd see on an ambulance...

I believe that when I took off the stop sign, it made part of the system not work... I can only get the inside uppers front and back to flash, outside ones wont light off at all... The outside light were red and I think they were tied into the stop sign...

The tail lights work, but they flash with the blinkers...

And none of the marker light come on at all...

When it was decommissioned as a school bus they pulled a bunch of the toggle switches that work the safety stuff... So, there's a ton of loose wires with no rhyme or reason...

This yellow box has the uppers running to it, along with others...

They are coming from this block...

Some stuff goes to this...

And more to this...

At the top is the bottom side of the toggle panel...

Here's the toggle panel... All they left was the wipers and heaters plugged in...

I'm thinking I'll have to take everything apart and trace it all, one wire at a time... And of course, all this has to be done from the outside of the bus... Good thing it's always raining...

So, the company(ELS) that makes the yellow box, has been in business since 1995...

My bus is a 1993...

I guessing this system isn't what came with the bus originally... That makes it impossible to find a schematic... That could also explain some loose wires... ****...

The people who build buses have a little down in em... i work for cummins and work on buses quite often they are all electrical nightmares and ****ed in the head....:redneck:

Shane swung by and dropped off his Power Probe... Thanks Bro...

I've never used one before, but damn, it's a very cool tool... Already started lighting off the upper lights...:cheer:

It even has a dummy switch(breaker) so I don't blowed my **** up...:redneck:

Just need the stupid rain to go away...:booo:

Drove the bus over to Donnie's yesterday to play with the wiring...:cheer:

Looked at it for a little while with Jimbo and Rick, but the beers were causing to much of a distraction... Spent the rest of the night chillin' by the fire gettin' drunk...

Slept in the bus on a cot... Then got after the wiring this morning... Got pretty much all the major stuff figured out... Huge thanks to Donnie...:awesomework:

This thing sure did turn out great :awesomework:atleast they leveled out the 9 rd a bit from the previous logging cause with no trailer brakes with the rv loaded really sucked.

I haven't done **** to it in a while...:looser:

It's been a busy summer, I've had something going on just about every weekend since Memorial Day... Fun Run, Naches, wedding, 2 fishing trips, lots of camping, BBQs, parties... Still booked up until Oct...

Yeah I know, but it's been one hell of a summer...

I have collected a lot of materials from a great group of friends... Jimbo brought over a bunch of sch 40 to frame out the bunk beds... Dustin and Dave hooked me up with some diamond plate truck boxes for the cabinet doors... Jeremy donated some angle iron for framing the galley... Rusty threw in some square stock as well... Not to mention all the guys that have already helped out with parts, materials or labor... Kevin, Casey, Chad, Shane, Donnie, Rick, Dan(huge amount of RV parts), my two boys and anyone I forgot...

Need to get my head back into it and get some momentum going again...

The last few tent camping trips have beat the hell out of me and has had me drawing up more interior plans...

Think I'll go start it up right now and take it for a spin...:redneck:

We took it to a friends house this last weekend to welcome a family friend back from Iraq... Had a great time and stayed the night in the bus... I had it up to 68 mph on flat ground... Also took it to the store to get groceries... It gets more rubber necking than anything I've ever driven...

On Monday I was taking it down to run it through emissions and it went to **** right in front of the bay as I was pulling in... Leadfoot067 came to save my ass and pull it out of the emissions lot... Ended up draining the tank and fuel filter... The fuel looked a bit funky and didn't smell right... Put some fresh stuff in and primed the fuel system and it runs great...

Did find out on Mountain HWY that it runs out of diesel at 1/4 tank on the gauge... Better to find that out close to home than 100 miles away... It needs about 8 gallons in the tank to get the pick-up wet...

Here's a pic after Shane towed me out of the emissions lot...

X2. I love this thing. If I scored a bus I'd build it so I could drive my rig into the back of it.
