One thing I discovered, and its not new news but I don't do a **** ton of resi work in person so I've been a little slow, but I just re-wired my in-laws basement and finally just sprung for a set of these:

the wire strippers with the 14/2 and 12/2 romex strippers built in, should have bought a set YEARS ago even for just home ****. Then strip the jacket off the BEFORE you stuff them in the box (leave about 6-8" sticking out), makes it a million times faster and easier then stripping after the fact, and leaves a nicer finished product.

I tried a pair of those once and didn't like them.

So I seems I am learning with every screw--there certainly are tricks and procedures to doing this stuff. I also found a way to hang the sheetrock solo and was able to hang it all without damaging anything or even myself.

So I was able to get the ceiling all done. After the first row I started to get the hang of it. The one thing that threw me for a loop was I was used to making everything fit nice and tight and the overlapping edges at the corners certainly didn't need to be snug. Once I figured that out it made it much easier. I can certainly see my little flaws in the framing once the sheet rock is up.

So I decided to do the west wall first since I was able to get to the back side. It took a little bit but after the first board I started getting the hang of it.

Its also your second home so why not make it nice,and yes little corners and edges easily covered with mud and tape...

Holly **** that's a lot of screws. You could easily get away with 1/2 or even 1/3 of that many screws. Let work filling and mudding.

So I got all 4 walls done. I guess I did screw up though and the seams are supposed to be horizontal and not vertical. Ya I am a noob still learning .

But I am just going to roll with it.

I didn't have to buy any hand tools. When I organized the shop I found all my father in laws tools (at least I thought they were and damn if I wasn't right :redneck. All I had to get was mud and sanding stuff. The only thing I hate is the fact I wish I had watched my dad when he did this stuff. He did all of his own stuff and I was a dumb kid that didn't pay attention--it really sunk in he was gone doing this stuff..

So I hit it today and was able to get it all taped and all the screw's covered. For not doing this before the hard part was doing the corners.

You will have enough stuff hangin' on the wwalls that if you have a wave, it'll not be noticeable...

I got to work with my wood tools tonight as well! I forgot what a waffle head looks like in wood! :redneck: Lord knows I made enough of 'em!
Buddy came over and we knocked out the frame work for my 12'x24' loft addition, which will also get a 4'x12' catwalk to the original 10'x12' loft we built 7 yrs ago...Gonna be nice have all that extra storage. :awesomework:

So I got the sheet rock all done up and I learned a ton doing so..

I now have water and internet out to the shop. The hardest part was having to go under the damn porch..

So I got the room all primed and I was actually impressed with how it looked. I can certainly see little imperfections here and there but considering it was my first time and a pretty large area--I was happy.. Granted I didn't realize it was almost 1am when I walked out last night and being stuck in a room with no air flow(due to keeping bugs out) and 2 halogen lamps--I was soaked. :haha:

I can bet.. But it did turn out decent and most the flaws will be covered by stuff on the wall.. I still gotta figure out what wood I wanna use for around the window and door.
