Aftermarket heaters

if you get one, look for one that has tubes for defrost option. I tried to find a link to the one I bought awhile back. it had 4 ford style movable vents on the front and 2 tube options for the top, took up quite a bit of real-estate in my Toyota but well worth it.

I have the Vintage Air gen 2 heater in my fj40. Works great with plenty of heat with defrost and floor heat. The only thing I don't like is the electronic control valve that goes in the heater hose. When switching from cold to warm or the opposite you have to manually help it move. From what I have read its a common problem with them.

sometimes daily task with bluu keepin the driveway clear in the winter months. Needed a heater up to the task... :redneck:

2 years on the summit heater and I'm a fan

I have a Flexolite in my 1st gen and hate it. When I finish the cab swap I'm going to punt that heater across the shop. The ducting is a joke, you have to have both front vents closed to get close to enough flow to keep the windows defogged. But the louvers are such **** that when you try to close them, they fall inside.

I'm also interested in aftermarket heaters. I want to gut the dash out of my 85 toyota pickup and build a sheet metal buggy dash but upgrade the heater and still keep a couple vents and window defrost. Wondering what heater would be the best for something like that.

Do you have a good working stock heater now? You don't need the dash to run the stock heater box, they're easy to build a dash over the top of.

I have a bad working stock heater haha. I've never been a big fan of the stock heaters in these trucks but it might just need to be gone threw. Right now it makes a bunch of blowing noise but I get no air movement. I won't know until I tear into it but if theres a better option I would like to hear about it too.
