National Call To Boycott Target

No, Sir. you should read the whole thing.

SECTION 4. (1) The state government shall not take any discriminatory action against a religious organization wholly or partially on the basis that such organization:

(b) Makes any employment-related decision including, but not limited to, the decision whether or not to hire, terminate or discipline an individual whose conduct or religious beliefs are inconsistent with those of the religious organization, based upon or in a manner consistent with a sincerely held religious belief or moral conviction described in Section 3 of this act; or

(c) Makes any decision concerning the sale, rental, occupancy of, or terms and conditions of occupying a dwelling or other housing under its control, based upon or in a manner consistent with a sincerely held religious belief or moral

"Religious organization" means:
(b) A religious group, corporation, association, school, or educational institution, ministry, order, society or similar entity, regardless of whether it is integrated or affiliated with a church or other house of worship; and
c) An officer, owner, employee, manager, religious leader, clergy or minister of an entity or organization described
in this subsection (4).
I think you are misunderstanding what it is saying. It still has to be a type of religious organization but does not have to be a church. A Christian school is a religious organization but is not a church in all cases.
You can't refuse to rent an apartment to a gay person just because you don't like queers.

NO! That definition of religious organization comes from the bill. So a corporation, I.E. me, my rental properties which I own through the corporation which I am the sole member of, which is not integrated or affiliated with a church, can elect not to rent to a homosexual, or a Muslim for that matter, based on the fact that their religious beliefs are inconsistent with mine.

Look at it from a different perspective...If a private business owner can refuse to take pictures for a gay couple's wedding, or bake a cake for a gay couple's wedding, what sense would it make that you couldn't refuse to rent them your house or apartment?

Your apartment complex better be run based on religious beliefs. Any inconsistencies will get you sued. The apartments down the street from me would not qualify as a religious organization because of the way they are operated. Therefore they would have to rent to a gay person.

You hit the nail on the head with this one. I believe that the bill will be very short lived. I do not believe it will withstand Constitutional scrutiny and will be overturned or repealed within 2 years or less. As I stated earlier in this thread, I will not be the Guinea pig for any of these wonky social policies. A large corporation would have a very difficult time getting this thing applied. The only major one that comes to mind that would stand a chance would be Chikfila. I feel like they could refuse to cater for a gay wedding and be in the clear based on their current policies.

I think the bill was written with individually owned and operated businesses in mind. Either way, Id bet every last cent in my bank account that it will be tested in the court system within the year (it doesn't go into effect until July 1st). I do not think it will prevail.

Wow, a lot happened since the last time I was on this thread. I will admit, I've never been in a womans restroom. I just fihured they'd be nicer. I guess it's like the book says, everybody poops!

Just as in this discussion the law can be interpreted in different way. It will be interesting how a person will show that they run a business based on a religious or moral beliefs and not just on hate of a particular person. The religious community and the gay community can both come out on the good side of this if they would just use common since and not force their beliefs on the other.

The problem is that we all know they both are extremely guilty of that. I grew up in church, but it drives me crazy to deal with those people who insist on inviting you to church over and over and over and over. Holy **** leave me alone. The fags have to be in your face with their beliefs and want special treatment, not equal rights. Both sides are one in the same in my opinion on the annoyance factor. A good Christian will respect your beliefs and/or lifestyle and not be "that" person to turn you farther away from what they are trying to accomplish. I have worked with some outstanding folks that are great Christian folks. They ask once and done. They don't tell you what you should and shouldn't do. They accept you for how and who you are and keep their opinions on your life to themselves. I put Dan (moneypityj) in that category after meeting him at the last hardline ride. He is respectful of others and their way of life. I respect that.

This is the beginning my friend....just the beginning

I disagree, this is closer to the end of the middle... People are just starting to wake up now because it's starting to affect the masses on at "daily" level...

I know the type you are talking about. A good Christian will show you how to act by their actions not bound you about how you live.
This all got started when people tried to force others to accept and condone their lifestyle. The bakery refused to make a wedding cake because they did not approve of gay marriage. If it would have been a birthday cake for a gay person they said they would have made it with no problem. Same for the religious adoption agency, they were shutdown because they would not adopt out a child to a gay couple. It was against their beliefs. In both cases the gay couples had many other options to get what they wanted. Instead they decided to force their way on some one else. That is wrong on all acounts.

In my opinion, this will eventually snowball into something much worse for conservatives. In fact, there's already been issues in California with men walking into female locker rooms/showers. These weren't men with gender identity crisis, these perverts/sexual predators. The point is, the beliefs of the few are being forced on the many. We are being forced to accept it, our children are being forced to accept it, and eventually we'll be forced to stop our beliefs all together.

For every action there is a reaction and eventually a follow on action........look around you and see what's going on.

-Gender identity classes in elementary schools
-Gay pride day in public schools
-Kids aren't allowed to pray at the lunch room table
-Large companies terminating employees for exercising their 1st Amendment right, but only when the employee favors conservative values
-People like Jenner being rewarded as women of the year.......he's not a damn women

I could keep going and going. Do you know who we can blame for all of this? Ourselves. Conservatives, Christians, Patriots and the like have sat on the bench for years and have been too afraid to say anything. We comprised our convictions for the sake of popularity. Churches have turned away thousands of people.........how? "If you want to be one of us then you have to join our club, fill out this membership application and tell us how much you earn, you have to change your life if you want to join us, I've been a member for 20 years....I'm better than you".......sound familiar?

Totally agree with everything you are saying!!

I havent supported target in probably 5 years, after i found out about them not supporting anything i like. Hunting, guns, offroading, etc... And they support tje groups that mow our wheeling areas over to build houses and ****... Like that makes any damn sense

Added two more names to the list. I would put a big sign on my truggy and tow rig that says **** TARGET........but then I'd have to put up with all my smartass buddies making sarcastic jokes about it.

Not sure where this goes so I will leave here. Im glad Target made this announcement, now my wife will quit going.

It just shickles the tit out of me the thought of never having to darken the doorway of that God forsaken place again. I have always hated that place. The misses loves it and says they have better quality stuff than walmart. I don't know what it is but I just hate being there. The only redeemable quality it has is their are usually an abundance of hot women in yoga pants walking around in there. I told her about the bathroom deal and she may very well be done with it. yay me :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot:

So the real question is, at wal mart do let your children go to the restroom alone while you're somewhere else in the store? Or do what a parent is supposed to do and accompany your child?

Target is no different. You stand outside while your daughters go in and the moment you see a man walk to the door you stop him. You do what you're supposed to do.

The choice to walk away and get on Facebook to talk about it is super high school to me.

I'll still shop there as well as accompany my family to the restroom like I have since I got married and had children. I like that 99.5% of target bodies speak fluent English and every clothing/shoe design isn't catered to Mexicans.

But hey I was just sharing my opinion.

Oh and yes I will sell all targets my patented splash proof urinal. Know dat

I am a father of 5 daughters and yes I stand outside the restroom while they go into the ladies room. Of course I would stop a man from going in there behind my daughters. But how r u going to stop the man from going in prior to your daughters going in there and waiting for victims when u don't see them go in?
