94-95 tbi engines never had a vortec style head as the true vortec had only 2 bolts in each corner and are not interchangable with earlier years.it's not just beacause they had plastic rocker cover that said vortec. not all vortec's had a crank sensor and did'nt come about till 94. please...

vortec is really a generic term gm has had for the last few years. it seems everything they produce now is some sort of vortec. the first generation vortec was put in production in 1992 had a vin code of "w" and had cpi injection. they made different versions of these as some had crank sensors...

i came across this very same situation awhile back. this is not a factory setup. the thin shims are not to be left in the case. if the were and came out, IMO, there was not enough preload achieved. what ford wants you to do is achieve proper setup, measure thickness and purchase one of about 50...

the rear port on a c-6 is the return back to the case. imo i would always install the temp sender in the pressure tap port on the case to read internals, not cooler line temp.

remove the pcv valve and inspect for vacuum in the crankcase or remove the air intake, open the throttle blades all the way, shine a streamlight into the plenum and inspect for oil laying in the bottom. it is very common for the gasket on the lower plate to get sucked inwards on the plenum. jeep...
